ABC’s “Lucky 7″ will hold a mark in TV history, albeit not one to be proud of. The alphabet network has canned the first new show of the 2013-2014 season by cancelling the drama about ill-fated lottery winners after just 2 episodes. Effectively immediately, the drama will be pulled off air and “Scandal” encore episodes will now fill the Tuesdays 10pm time slot on ABC.
“Lucky 7″ lost more than 50% of its viewers from week 1 to week 2. Ironically, demo ratings of 0.7 didn’t prove to be lucky for this new drama.
In another realm of the network TV world, TV’s first renewal of the season goes to Fox’s cult-loved “Sleepy Hollow.” Fox has renewed the supernatural procedural-type series for a 13-episode second season. Given this renewal, the option for picking up the back 9 episodes for season 1 has been buried under the sand. Premiering a week earlier than the rest of network’s fare proved to be successful for Fox. The premiere actually gave Fox it’s best drama premiere rating since 2006. Season 1 will remain with 13 episodes with Season 2 likely to bow Fall 2014, following a cable-like format. “Sleepy Hollow” airs Monday at 9/8c with weekly encores Fridays at 9/8c!
