American Idol 4/29 – Goodbye Matt Giraud

Well, it was predicted all over the net, including here, that Matt would be singing his swan song tonight, and the predictions were spot on. What was not spot on was the bottom three however. All of the big vote prediction places like Dial Idol, et. al. had Allison and Kris along with Matt in the bottom three. The shocker, Adam, bottom two. Now, you all know by now that I just don’t like the guy… However, with his wild popularity, what happened? Well, here’s my thoughts on it, and I kinda think it sucks… 

Rumors and pictures spread this week of Adam. Many didn’t realize he was gay (which I still don’t see how you couldn’t… not that it SHOULD matter)… but I am thinking it in fact, did matter, to many. Now I don’t like Adam as a performer, but having him go from top of the tops, to bottom two so suddenly screams controversy, and I really think he found himself in the bottom because of being gay. Pictures of him kissing another man all over the internet I’m sure didn’t help matters.  Did you notice when they showed Adam’s “Family and Friends” in the audience tonight, they were ALL female? Last week it wasn’t. Last week there was a young male that also appeared to be gay as well. I’m thinking this was done on purpose in the hopes of staving off this controversy. Will it work? I don’t know. I do know though that I don’t want to see him leave because of that, but I would like to see him leave. I have a conundrum now. Damn.
