Just days after it became official that Chris Medina was no longer in the running on American Idol, he released his first single on his quest to stardom. Chris was an early favorite after his first audition tugged at the heart strings of America. With the story behind his wife Julie, Chris was able to not only win over the judge’s with his voice but America with his heart. As his journey through Hollywood continued, Chris survived cut after cut, before he was told by the judge’s that he wouldn’t crack the Top 24 this season, prompting Jennifer Lopez to incur an emotional breakdown and question her desire to continue judging. Critics claim the drama was blown out of proportion, although JLo rightfully so felt a bit emotional breaking the news to someone who is so devoted to providing love and care to his wife. Medina’s words upon leaving the Idol set prove to be admirable. “Now I’m going to go home and keep writing music. Take care of my wife. Make a miracle happen.”
Medina releases his debut single, “What Are Words,” along with a music video featuring studio footage and images of Julie. Medina joined forces with Rodney Jenkins, the man behind “Telephone” by Lady Gaga and a number of Destiny’s Child hits. Check out his single and video below. What do you think of the song? Do you wish Medina would have cracked the Top 24 or is this not a solid enough effort? Let us know below!
