American Idol: Old Rivalries and New Polls

THIS is American Idol. Apparently, the same old rivalries still exist. Ryan Seacrest was quoted in the NY Post recently saying Simon was “just so jealous of me… from Day One, he was envious of my career at such a young age.” Well, ok. I can’t see why Simon would be jealous of him, or anyone else for that matter, but I guess that’s what Ryan needs to keep telling himself? Is he jealous of Simon? Why bring that up at all, even if there is jealousy there? I don’t really get it, so, moving on…

In other Idol news, a new poll came out by The Hollywood Reporter that asked 750 “Idol” watchers how they feel about the upcoming season set to premier on FOX this month on January 19. In it, 67% answered that they thought that “the best days of the singing competition are over.” However, 60% of poll respondents believed that the new format American Idol is attempting is “positive change” for the show. The question is, will they watch. Will you be watching?
