American Idol’s ratings slipped on it’s second night, pulling in 22.9 million viewers, still winning it’s timeslot. It was down 20% from it’s premier, and 23% down from last year’s second episode. However, Nigel Lythgoe, Executive Producer of the show, isn’t concerned.
Nigel believes that once we see the latest crop of Idols chosen, people will most definitely tune in. In fact, he believes they have found a talented 15 yr. old girl who rivals Kelly Clarkson. “I am thrilled and delighted at the reaction to the new panel,” Lythgoe tells THR, noting that the numbers were 45% higher than last year’s finale performance night and 18% higher than the season 9 finale results show.
