I can’t believe what happened! This is an outrage! Its insulting! I want to tell you so badly, but before we can talk about the end-we need to talk about the beginning. So without further ado, here’s your weekly recap of America’s Next Top Model.
After panel last week, Jane was ready to become the top of the pack by bringing out her personality even more than that crack we all got to see from her. Chelsey shared that the competition was getting very intense, very quickly and she believed Ann was just coasting through it. Ann noticed Chelsey was stepping us her game so she thinks she needs to step up her own. Kayla was so happy with her best photo, she believes she’s just getting better and better-she’s so happy she’s practically in disbelief. She knows though, that now its all about who has the personality, and who has the whole package. Chelsey wants this terribly, she shared with us that this is all she’s ever been trying to do, is get into high fashion. With all the girls pumped like this, who will come out on top in the next challenge?
Tyra mail: modeling is five-hundred percent you, and fifty percent people you know. After a good night sleep, the girls meet up with Miss Jay where he tells them how important a first impression is. He has brought an acting coach named Barbra to teach the girls how to show more emotion and be present, she wants them to be lions. She went through introductions with them, and acted out emotions with them. She wanted Jane to project her voice more, and when Ann introduced herself-she asked her if she was alive. Jane knows acting has everything to do with modeling, and after all the girls had one-on-one time with Barbra practicing emotions they felt a little more confidence with themselves. Miss Jay told them that everything they learned should be used when they meet the biggest client America’s Next Top Model has ever had. Talk about nerve-racking information. The girls were driven to building and started up an elevator, and on each floor was a magazine name. When they got to the top floor, they were outside the doors of Vogue Italia, every single girl was freaking on the inside. The girls came face to face with Franca Sozzani, the editor-and-chief of Vogue Italia-and Andre. He explained to the girls that they would use the lesson they got earlier in the day to present themselves to Franca in this challenge. Andre would watch over them quietly while they each had a one-on-one session with Franca. Kayla went first and she didn’t seem to be projecting her voice much, she chose to explain her pictures but didn’t share a lot about herself. Franca thought she needed more character. Chelsey went up next, she talked about herself and then talked some about her photos-she seemed to understand the lesson the best. Franca thought she had a very good character. Ann went after her and got quiet quickly but still answered her questions. Franca thought she was very shy but that she could have a career. Jane went last and did well projecting her voice, she stumbled a bit but talked a lot more than usual. Franca thought she was pretty and had lots of character in her face. Chelsey won the challenge by impressing Franca the most, because she shared about herself. She was told to pick a friend, Kayla, and before they spent a night in a glorious Malian hotel they would go with Andre to a private viewing of the real The Last Supper which is actually painted on a wall. Needless to say, Chelsey and Kayla had a wonderful time in a luxurious hotel room next to a mall above Gucci. They had champagne and extravagant treats by up the them by butler. Ann and Jane were back at the girl’s apartment having their own little party with chinese take-out, wine, and a cartoon version of The Last Supper on a napkin taped to the wall. Both pairs enjoyed themselves.
Tyra mail: Movement creates Energy, tomorrow you’ll be models on the move. The girls met Jay in Verona which is the setting of Romeo and Juliet where they would have to do a bit of acting and put their skills to the test. He told them two girls would be eliminated at panel so they better bring their A-game. Tyra pops up, breaking the dim mood that was brought on by such sudden news and explains to the girls that this is a first for all of them. They would be staring in the first motion editorial Tyra has ever directed-she told them their motion editorial is all about hard core sexuality, pain, fear, and couture. The rest of the shoot was a blur, the girls went from being in gowns, to being in suits, to being in runway dresses, to being in lace that covered their face-switching from being in a cathedral, to being the silowet in a window, to crying on a balcony, to walking down the patio, to being in the garden. Chelsey had a shaky start, she put a sense of wonder in her mouth but Tyra wanted to see it more in her eyes; after that Chelsey was beautiful-Tyra and Jay agreed she rocked the whole day. Ann was worried about being awkward and even though Tyra at first had to remind her to keep her chin down she did good; Tyra liked Ann’s shoulders and thought that when she flipped her hair she had a magic moment. Kayla had trouble finding the right dress at first but when she got into it she found herself and surprised Tyra and Jay. Jane looked imperial, and Tyra thought she was beautiful; she struggled with the emotion but Tyra loved that her face could shine through even though the wind kept blowing all of her hair over it. It was new and it was fun and it was busy, and right after the next commercial break-it was time for panel.
In panel Chelsey was told the diversity she showed was surprising, she reacted to the camera positively, and Tyra got chills because she was so impressed. Although she needs to work on how to move her arms and focus on where her body is in longer shoots. Jane was told the camera loves her, that she had a lot of believability, and the strongest face but her fluidity wasn’t working. Ann was told she was very photogenic, that she needs to angle her head down more, and that her runway walk really needs a lot of work. Kayla was told that her performance was the most realistic, that she’s also photogenic, and that she is absolutely a chameleon but she needs to watch her angles as in which ones work and which ones don’t. The girls were told that the two finalists would be staring in a runway show with Raberto Cavalli designs and if the girls weren’t on their last nerve already this sent them over the edge. The judges went in deliberation and discussed how Chelsey is surprising, sexy, and raw while wanting to please and she definitely ‘gave face’. How Jane is photogenic, beautiful, and if she were taught to express she could go very, very far. How Ann is amazing, sexy, a force of nature, and in front of the camera brings such intensity. How Kayla is particular special, that she can model, and that she works hard. When the girls return, they anxiously await the calling of two names.
Ann is called up first, as a finalist of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 15. Tyra told her she came a long way, that she was great, and today she blew Tyra away. Chelsey, Kayla, and Jane then stood in front of Tyra to hear what she had to say before she called the second and last name. She told Chelsey that the judges love her love and knowledge of the industry, that she’s inspiring, that her experience had made her stronger and that she has really good photos, but is she kick ass? Kayla is different, interesting, a master, but can she master her body and its angles? Jane has pretty pictures, a pretty face, bold bone structure, but a personality that was forgettable until yesterday. The only other finalist of America’s Next Top Model was Chelsey-the judges could see how much she wants this, and then were inspired and they want to believe that she has what it takes. Tyra told Kayla that she is very special, that she should try acting too, and that she could be a big star. Tyra told Jane that she is so beautiful, that she should get signed, and make a splash. And there you have it, your two finalists are Chelsey and Ann.
Come on! I don’t know about you guys but I don’t believe Ann should have been in the final two. Her photos are carrying her further but her personality should have gotten her kicked out this week if not last! If she messes up her commercial and wins because of a picture I’m going to be very upset! And her runway way this week is no better than it was the first week-another reason she should have been gone. But thats just my opinion, whats yours? Tell us here or come yak with us in the FORUM! (I still can’t believe it!)
