After panel the girls were surprised to find Tyra at their house, she decided to give an impromptu lesson to the girls about archetypes, fame, and autographs. Tyra told the girls that every model fits into an archetype, they have a speciality but each of them is still capable of being high fashion. There were six main archetypes: athlete, edgy, girl-next-door, couture, bombshell, and androgynous. After she gave some well-known examples, Tyra asked the girls to place each other in certain archetypes. Alex was said to be edgy and bombshell; Kasia was thought of as bombshell and couture; Jaclyn was the only girl-next-door; Monique was labeled complete bombshell; Brittani had couture carved into her; and Mikaela was also said to be bombshell. Tyra explained that each of the girls all have something specific, but they can relate to so many people on many different levels. This is how you become a really successful model, but with being so successful comes something you have to take into consideration, fame. Tyra told the girls, its important to have boundaries with your fans, how much you tell them, and how far you let them into your personal life. Then Tyra taught the girls how to sign autographs, telling them what is better to do and what to shy away from. Her final tidbit about fame was about the negative aspect, and how there will always be someone trying to bring you down and how it will always hurt but that you need to separate it from everything else. The Tyra-mail for the next challenge promptly said, tomorrow you’ll have a real following-some of the girls were thinking paparazzi?
The challenge turned out to be something of an autograph signing challenge, the girls were going to interact with fans and hopefully be relatable and make everyone happy. Miss Jay was going to decide the winner who would join him and the winner’s choice of two other girls on an exclusive one on one dinner at Rock Sugar. Monique was over it before it even began, someone would come up to her and after a hello and a heres my autograph she was dying to say you can go now. Kasia was open and friendly and a couple of fans described her as real, instead of a fake-model personality. Molly liked to think that she was nice and could connect with a new face, Alex thought it was aggravating and thought Kasia was overdoing it. When Miss Jay reviews the girls, he mentioned that Monique looked bored, Alex broke boundaries in a bad way, Jaclyn had a squeaky personality, and Kasia talked with the fans while keeping herself ‘modely’. She was the obvious choice for winner, and she chose Jaclyn and Brittani to come with her to dinner. The rest of the girls had to clean up the fan mess, and while most of them just did it and got it over with, Monique complained a lot and was seething with envy, she hoped that they had a horrible dinner and hoped that they would get food poisoning!
The dinner turned out to be lovely, Miss Jay gave the girls lots of advice on how to take negative criticism, that people can be cruel and the best thing to do is let it go. He said something I really loved, he said “Sticks and stones can break my bones but ugly words make me wealthy.” When the girls got back to the house they could tell Monique was pissy because while everyone else was interested in how dinner went, she ignored them. On a side note, they finally took out Molly’s weave! She is going to be working with her natural locks from now on, she was so happy to have that animal off her head. The new Tyra-mail for the photoshoot said oh the tangled webs we weave, and the girl were thinking spiders or jungle vines but it turned out they were going to be intertwined with each other. The girls met Mister Jay at Smashbox Studios, where he introduced them to their photographer for the evening, Jonathan Mannion who focuses on making art intimate without being sexual. The girls were put into groups of four based on their hair color, blonds on one side, brunettes on the other, and the goal was to look beautiful together while still standing out. They were dressed in bikinis and covered in mud, and the blonds were the first to go to work.
They started off with nice interaction, Jay was loving Hannah’s movements, but wanted more intensity from Alex. For some reason Kasia and Alex weren’t connecting while Molly and Hannah were owning it completely. Kasia felt the chaos, questioning her movements and trying not to disconnect, but Alex starting directing again which pissed Jay off seriously. He was like, please leave her arm the way it is, I put it there for a reason. Alex needs to go home, I don’t know how many times I need to say this, but I shall forever repeat myself. Alex needs to go home. The brunettes on the other hand, did better, Jaclyn found good angles with her face after Jay told her she didn’t need to be animalistic. As the shoot went on though, Monique went from model to a pretty woman and couldn’t seem to get her focus back. Mikaela had good and bad moments, much like a rollar coaster, she would bring it with her eyes and then they would dim, real hit and miss, Jay called it lack luster. The best brunette was Brittani, she breathed life into the photo, her body positioning was perfect and her face expression was ozzing with power and contentment.
At panel, Sonia Dara was the guest judge, and the girls were talked to in their photo groups, and the brunettes went first. At first glance, you can’t tell who is who, which Andre said is a good thing. They talked about Monique first, and how her face was soft and sweet and her neck was fantastic but her body didn’t follow, they mentioned how for a long time she’s been coasting in the middle. Jaclyn had awesome body language, powerful eyes, and remembered to lift up her chin, her bone structure was stunning. Mikaela was told she was the weakest link, and didn’t have any great drama, she has strong features but she needs to bring the tension to her eyes which she did sometimes but she really needs it all the time. Brittani was the star of the photo, it didn’t even matter that part of her leg was missing because the rest of her dominated the photo. Then the blondes went up, and Andre wished there was more body language but there was better concentration. Hannah was the spark in the photo, she had the emotional range, she was calm but intensifying, stunning but relaxing. Molly was gorgeous, she looked extraordinary, but Nigel warned her to becareful about the different sizes of her eyes. Kasia’s interaction with the other girls came out perfectly, Tyra said her film was very impressive. Alex looked posy, like she was trying to get in on the shot, she lost it this week, she wasn’t consistent. The brunettes photo was described as editorial and high fashion while the blondes was said to be more billboard worthy.
The best photo went to a girl who participated in the strongest group photo, Brittani got it. Kasia was next, then Molly, Jaclyn, Hannah, Alex (god damnit), and the bottom two was Mikaela and Monique. Monique ended up going home because she stayed a constant middle while the judges enjoyed Mikaela’s peaks of greatness. I really wanted Alex to go home, (like I do every week) but it just seems like they are going to keep her around for entertainment purposes.
