Another week, another potential model gets sent home. Did you miss it? Well then, here is your recap!
The girls get home from panel and Brittani is so happy she finally got top photo for the first time. She still thinks Alex is completely rude and disrespectful, and couldn’t believe she was not in the bottom two. All the girls were surprised when they found little Warriors in Pink goodie bags at their home, one for each of them. Warriors in Pink is a breast cancer awareness movement funded by Ford, and each girl got some merch as well as her own specific symbol that represents the warriors as the traits of the people fighting against breast cancer. This is what their first photoshoot this week was all about, they would be modeling the symbol that they got competing for a national print ad, and commercial spot for Warriors in Pink.
The girls met Nigel, who was their photographer, at Smashbox Studios where they had to do their own hair, makeup, and outfit for their symbol, at the end Nigel would pick the winner. Jaclyn was the warrior of courage, she chose boxing gloves, and Nigel asked her what her message was, and she said she representing the fight people go through and how she was going to beat breast cancer up. Kasia was the warrior of heart, and she dressed as a greek warrior, Nigel said she was beautiful. Brittani was the dove warrior, but when Nigel asked her what she was thinking about as she did the shoot, she said she doesn’t think she just does. Nigel scolded her, telling her that it was about emoting, that you have to feel the passion, you can’t just do passion. Hannah was the warrior of life, the spiral, she had a twirling baton with a ribbon, and the action looked good but Nigel had to remind her to own the photo with her eyes. Mikaela was war paint, the warrior of readiness, being ready to fight head on, she had a great outfit but she continued to do the same thing over and over again which was frustrating for Nigel. Molly was the angel wings, which honored the angels who fought the good fight, she did well. Alex was the tree of love, which represented those who stood together and tall through their journey, Nigel liked her shoot very much and thought she did a great job. Alex won, and that pissed all the girls off but no more than Brittani. Nigel said he choose her because she had emotion, and she made the symbol her own even if it was a little obvious. She got to do the ad, the commercial, and she got a new Ford Focus which was a big surprise and shock to everyone, except Nigel. Brittani made a huge fuss over it, didn’t understand how he could pick Alex when she was so fake, didn’t think she deserved it all. Alex heard her and they got into a bit of a tiff in front of the client, Brittani was very loud and Alex was talking back but quieter and more defense than attack. When Alex got home after shooting her ad, the girls gave her the silent treatment, and Alex still continues to say that she doesn’t understand why they aren’t happy for her.
The girls are woken up the next morning by Miss Jay arriving at their house and telling them that he scored them all VIP treatment at Universal Studios, they were getting a special version of the tour. They are going around looking at all the things, when they stop because Miss Jay wants a picture in front of a haunted house. Suddenly a woman figure comes out of the house with a knife and starts stabbing Miss Jay in the chest as he screams, but oh wait, its just Mister Jay in a wig with a fake knife. Oh, its another photoshoot! Mister Jay explained to the girls that it always makes him feel better when he starts out the morning with a little stabbing. The girls are going to do a photoshoot where they are crazy for ‘something’ and have fun with it while still modeling, they were working with Miguel Starcevich who is a creative avant-garde photographer. They were told not to hold back, to be super stars, and the more extreme they went the better. They also got to work with Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman, who would be their guest judge at panel later that night, he wanted the clothes to become a costume and for the girls to come up with creative characters.
Molly was crazy for accessories, and at first she started off a little awkward, the photographer loved her body but need more in her face, and she eventually came around and gave a beautiful, subtle crazy shot. Brittani was crazy for shoes, she came out kicking and screaming and jumping, and the photographer loved her personality but the photo that ends up at panel looks much less than what she seemed to be giving. Hannah was crazy for handbags, and she didn’t seem to understand how to act crazy, it wasn’t really model-eske either but she pulled it off somehow by keeping something aglow in her eyes. Jaclyn was crazy for makeup and she had to be the best out of everyone, I loved her photo so much, she completely relaxed and had fun with it while still being a model. Kasia was crazy for hair, and what was great about her photo was that she wasn’t afraid to do something different, she did really well. Alex was crazy for fur, at one point she was screaming but the photo that shows up at panel looks much less than screaming crazy, it just looks like she robbed Cruelia De Vil. Mikaela was crazy for sales, and I think that was the hardest one of all because its not like you have actual props because its just stuff and not something specific like all the other girls had. She was kinda overwhelmed by the set and she couldn’t get a handle on the crazy, mostly because she didn’t bring any.
At panel, Jaclyn, Kasia, Hannah, and Molly were praised for their high fashion photos, but the most memorable part of this episodes panel was not the pictures or what the judges had to say about them. Brittani was called out by Nigel, telling Tyra that she was yelling in front of the client, at her fellow model no less. Tyra goes off on lecture, telling Brittani that she needs to respect the client, respect her coworkers, and respect herself, and as far as being a rolemodel and sportsmanship, she was letting people down. Brittani had to leave the room because she started having a panic attack, she tried to defend her misbehavior by saying that the girls at home know the true Alex, but Tyra just said what happens at home shouldn’t come to the workplace.
As the judges deliberated, Alex started saying to the girls that they should have been real with her about they felt and not been fake nice to her, and that if they have something to say they should say it now. The girls weren’t being fake nice, they were trying to be nice even though their first impressions of Alex were bad, they stopped after her bad attitude continued. Brittani couldn’t stand to wait in the same room with her, and went to the hall to wait for deliberation to be over.
We learned something new about how deliberation works tonight, Tyra is the last to vote and she does not outvote the group. The bottom two turned out to be Brittani and Mikaela, Andre thought Brittani should stay because she came back and stood in front of them to explain herself and that took courage. Nigel thought Brittani should stay because she has potential to change, and that her spunk and attitude can be molded. Eric also thought that Brittani should stay but Tyra thought that Mikaela deserved to stay more.
Unfortunately, Mikaela went home, but Tyra made sure Mikaela and Brittani knew that who stayed and who went was not on her. Best photo went to Jaclyn, Runner up was Molly, and Alex was right next to the bottom, second from last. Tyra made it very clear to both girls who she wanted to stay and who she wanted to go, not in a mean harsh way, but she was being real. I was sad to see Mikaela go, but I understand it, and I wouldn’t have agreed with Brittani going home because she only made one mistake and has been taking great pictures. I just hope she can do what Alex couldn’t, and learn from her mistake.
Next week should be interesting though, the girls are going on go sees, and taking a photoshoot on a garbage barge! HOw much you wanna bet Alex won’t like being around the garbage? Let us know what you think in the FORUM!
