ANTM – Creative Covergirls & One Wild Shoot

For the girls first challenge this week, they did something I don’t think I have ever seen before. They were split into groups of three, each group had a director, writer, and talent as well as a look they were suppose to capture. The girls were actually going to perform, write, and direct their own cosmetics commercials and the winning team, chosen by Mister Jay, would have their commercial posted up on covergirl.com. The teams had one hour to get everything ready for their one minute presentation, and they each were given ten minute to get their best take. Team one was night out/red carpet look, and consisted of Mikaela as the talent, Brittani as the director, and Kasia as the writer. Team two was bold/colorful eyes and had Jaclyn as the writer, Dayla as the talent, and Hannah as the director. Team three was daytime/causal look with Monique as the director, Molly as the writer, and get this-Alex as the talent. Oh, did the drama commence for that team.

The team that won was team one, and they definitely deserved it, according to Jay their commercial was most relatable to someone at home, and I also thought that they had the best lines out of the three. Mikaela was getting frustrated, dropping f-bombs like no tomorrow, but her last take was very good and definitely focused on the cover girl makeup. I did not like the direction team two took, Jaclyn and Hannah agreed they would go for more a conversational commercial than strict lines. Hannah thought that it would be better to Dayla key points instead, because of the previous commercial where she did do as wonderful as she would have liked to. Mister Jay liked that they tried something different, but it didn’t work because it lost both interest and the information it was suppose to have. I agree, it didn’t actually highlight any of the products or make them stand out in any way. Even though Dayla just had key points, and just had to have a conversation, she still didn’t do well, didn’t bring any ump to the commercial.

Team three had the hardest time, mostly because of Alex, she tried to control the whole entire thing. Molly wrote some lines and when Alex was looking them over she tried to ask if she could change them, and when Monique was trying to give her a direction, she would cut her off and be say that she’s the talent and needs to feel good about how they’re doing everything. It was quite annoying, Alex would say action when it was really Monique’s job to. Mister Jay was not impressed with their commercial but he was impressed that Monique stayed calm, cool, and collected while dealing with Alex because that’s what you need when dealing with difficult talent. I just love that he called Alex difficult, that was the highlight for me.

As far as the drama that went on in the house, it wasn’t all that different from the regular drama that went on last week. Molly still hates her hair, they gave her a break from the weave for a couple days but had to put it back in. She has a rash and it really bothers her all the time, puts in her a bad mood. Luckily Tara told her that starting next week, if she survived panel, she could work what her mom and dad gave her and get ride of the thing. Alex kept being the house b*tch, apparently someone took a towel she was going to use, and she threw a fit over it. I mean, really, you threw a fit over a towel, go get another one you weasel. The girls seem to come together because of her, being a unit all their own with Alex on the outside, which is honestly her own fault for acting the way she does. The judges told her to work on her attitude, but then she comes home and acts like a diva, she’s not listening at all.

Alex decided to open up this week, about how misunderstood is she at the house and about how nobody gets her. She just wishes people would understand that she’s only been trying to fix and help everyone. Apparently her mom and dad split up because of abuse, and she felt the need to protect her siblings. It is a sad story, but I don’t think it gives her the right to act like the queen of the house. She doesn’t have to act the way she does, and I really hope she’s not using her unfortunate background as an excuse. That wouldn’t be right. The girls don’t care to understand anymore, they’re just too tired of the way Alex has been treating everybody, as if everyone is beneath her. There is a difference between confidence and cockiness, and Alex has been going way too far. The girls were sitting in the living room together while Alex was using the house phone to call someone; someone wondered what she thought of all of them. Monique had the idea to look in her diary, and Jaclyn immediately protested, she’s afraid of Alex and she doesn’t like her but at the same time she knows where the line is. Molly supported the idea, and I think it was because she might have wanted a little revenge for the hard time Alex gave her at the commercial. I don’t know whether Monique was disappointed or happy but she found nothing bad about any of the girls, just Alex wondered to herself why is she such a loner. If she didn’t know that it was her attitude by now, she’s never going to change, and I really hope she goes home soon.

The girls had a photoshoot with a baby jaguar this week, they went to the old LA zoo where they wore pieces from Rachel Zoe’s faux fur collection. They were excited to do something wild, but when they saw their photo partner some were happier than others. Alex got excited, and Monique got annoyed, apparently she hates cats. Some did a lot better than others, and some were completely high fashion while others were complete flops. Molly and Monique were towards the end when the kitty was getting sleepy and cranky, and that made Molly mad. She felt like the others got it easier than the people at the end did, and she told us she would feel best if Alex went home.

We got a much better look at everyone’s pictures at panel, where Rachel Zoe was the guest judge. They started with Jaclyn whose picture I personally loved, the judges thought it had strength, an 80s vibe, and powerful attitude. Tyra had to remind Mikaela to put tension in her body, but praised her for her face and her massive amounts of potential. Molly kinda lost it in her photos, whether it was due to the cranky kitty or not, we don’t know but she certainly didn’t impress anybody. Monique was called the vampiress of the night in her photo, and was told she had subtle beauty, personally I didn’t see it this week but she wasn’t the worst either. Kasia was allergic to the kitty which made it harder to work with and she definitely looked the more uncoordinated in her photo but the judges thought she worked it and gave an editorial energy. Tyra is getting frustrated with Dayla, because her bone structure is wearing her instead of the other way around. She really wants her to work her angles on set, but Dayla gets desperate and seems to lose focus a lot. Brittani’s photo was one of the best, she looked like a fabulous, expensive woman with her pet jaguar. She emoted power and strength and completely stunned the judges, and she did the most important thing a model is hired for, she sold the coat that she was wearing, she made it desirable by being desirable. Alex’s picture was terrible, at one point she started hissing and barking at the cat, and she wasn’t emoting, she was feeding off the animal’s character instead of creating her own picture. It was a fun picture, it was no where close to being high fashion. After Brittani’s photo I didn’t expect there to be another awesome one, but then Hannah’s photo was last it was just as wonderful if not more so. Hannah’s photo was completely high fashion, picture perfect, she was lush, intriguing, and she had the jaguar relaxed. Her photo was agreed upon as iconic and made the viewer want to buy whatever she was wearing.

Hannah and Brittani’s photos were the best, they were untouchable in the realm of high fashion, so bold, elegant, and powerful. Brittani sold the coat, and looked great doing it, but everything came together in Hannah’s photo and I mean absolutely everything. I was going to be so mad if they didn’t get the top two picture spots, but they did, Hannah got best photo while Brittani got runner up.  I was greatly surprised when Alex was called up sixth, she should have been in the bottom two again without a doubt but the bottom two turned out to be Molly and Dayla. I was only half surprised at this, Molly had one bad photo this week but all her pictures before have been really good, I don’t think she should have been knocked all the way down by one photo. Dayla on the hand, has been sinking a lot, I can understand that she’s in the bottom two, both her commercials were bad and her pictures are not the best either. Molly stayed, and I agreed with that very much, I thought it would have been extremely silly to send her home because of one bad photo. Tyra was completely right though, her hair, no matter how annoying and bad it was, did not make the photo bad, she can do better. Dayla ended up going home, she hasn’t been the best but she hasn’t been the worst either. I still stand by that Alex should have gone home, her attitude is not going to change, she still doesn’t understand that its even the problem at the this point, she just thinks she’s being misunderstood. Maybe they just like the drama she creates, honestly though, if she gets any closer to top five, I’m going to have to send some kind of letter because that is just ridiculous.

Don’t agree? Have a different opinion? We would love to hear it. This is just what I think, come discuss who you believe should be America’s Next Top Model here in the forums.
