Holy moly makeovers! Are you crying or dying yet? Lets talk about the best, and the worst. (Also, there are a couple of next episode Spoiler Pics at the bottom!)
So, when the girls got home after panel there was a rope on the window saying “pull me”, and it let down a huge poster with hair styles all over it. The girls immediately started to speculate about who was getting which makeover. They arrive at Prive Salon in Hollywood, where Mister and Miss Jay begin to explain whats going on. They introduce Laurent D, the head stylist and owner and also Troy Jenson who will be their makeup artist and photographer. (Because, as always, there will be a photo session after the makeovers.) Lets begin with Monique, she did not want her hair to be cut, she was hoping and hoping her hair would not be cut. She likes her long hair, well, her makeover turned out to be hair extensions, and her reaction kinda made me wish they shaved her head. She was all, ‘yay I get my way, I always get what I want, I love my life.’ I was like, wow. I would love to see what kind of pouty fit you would throw when you don’t get your way. She went on to say that she believes she has more of a figure than any of the other girls there and that she needs to work on not being so sexy. Yeah, I don’t know where she gets her logic either. Thus, she has been dubbed Airhead. Naturally though, our lovely house b*tch Alex just had to top her for most dramatic performance. Alex got root touch-ups and wavy long hair extensions; and she was immediately unsatisfied. She told us she has very good intuition, and then complained to the hair-dresser that her hair did not look good and that she needed to be taken care of. She then began to cry, because she doesn’t like fake hair, and after the hair-dresser ‘fixed up’ what was a perfectly fine hair style, Alex was fine, saying that ‘my way is the right way, I need it done my way.’ This is just unacceptable, and totally not top model behavior.
Mikaela got super long, straight black hair, and she thought it propelled her to greater highs and that she could bring something to the table that was worth looking out for. Sara was very nervous about the possibility of getting short, spiky, manly hair; she was very much hoping for extensions and something luscious. Whether its good or bad in the end, she got exactly what she didn’t want and she knew exactly why. She knows it will highlight her androgynous features, and decided to look at that as a good thing and as initiative to work harder. Britanni, although she was hoping for red hair, got the short, black, with bangs look. She choose to fully trust her stylist and Tyra’s decision, and focused on working the angles of her hair, once she accepted it, she started to feel like a whole new person. Jaclyn was so nervous, she was hoping she would not become a blond and lucky for her she didn’t, they made her slightly curly hair, extremely curly. Miss Jay came up to her chair and asked her how she was liking her new look and she told him she could work it and he said thats good but do you know theres a razor back there waiting for you? And I was like, whoa, wait, what now? And Jac’s face was pure terror before Miss Jay said pysch. He definitely had me going for a moment there, it would be cool to see ANTM do something super edgy like that. Kasia ended up with wild ‘n’ crazy, big crimped hair; and she was okay with it, she was all ‘bigger is better and so am I. Dayla got a hairnet and then long, black, straight fake hair, and she liked it, thought it gave her a more model look and feel. Hannah got dirty blond and big waves which made her feel luscious and sexy. But before we move on to the photoshoot the girls had the the next day, there were two more bumps in the road in the makeover room.
Dominique got red, firey hair and matching eyebrows, and her immediate reaction was dislike, she was concerned about how it looked about how she could use it. Mister Jay told her not to control the situation and that it wasn’t about being safe, it was about making her pop. She said she was outta her element, but she eventually felt better about it and decided her unique look was a very good thing.
The biggest happening though was Molly’s hair, they brought in some old lady specialist for her weave, and the lady ended up butchering her head. She was getting a weave and long, blond, curly fake hair; the lady started and after a little bit everyone started realizing it was looking really weird. Molly was freaking out, just a little bit, her hair did not look good, I mean the fake hair looked awesome but where the hair met her head was a disaster zone. I don’t even know a lot about hair and even I knew that. Miss Jay went to talk to Laurent and they both agreed they needed to make some magic for the shoot just until they could redo her hairdo. They were able to pump her up by making it a bit of a mini-challenge, telling her to think of it as an exercise: can you prove to the client you can make this look work? Molly wasn’t happy, but she liked the idea; her head hurt all the rest of the day, and it made her angry. Some of the girls were trying to make her feel better, Alex was being a b*tch-I mean herself, telling her she should have spoken up. Brit thought that if Molly was going to let her hair get in the way, then it was one less competitor in her way. At panel, Tyra said if Molly stayed, her weave would be fixed, Molly did not go home so hopefully we’ll see a better head of hair on her next Wednesday.
The girls photoed in couture in groups this week, and some were marvelous while others were not. One group that had problems was Monique and Alex, both girls are strong and go-getters but when Monique tried to be nice, Alex tried to be bossy and totally ruined the chemistry of the photo. Her attitude overall was disrespectful, especially to the lovely dynamic duo they were working with, Pamela Hanson and Lori Goldstein. Lori verbally disliked Alex’s cranky-ness behind and on set, and I was just appalled by her. The only other major photo-drama that went down was in Dayla, Jaclyn, and Dominique’s group. Dayla and Jaclyn were vibing off each other while Dominique acted much like a decoration. Mister Jay was very disappointed in her, and she said she had no inspiration, which really is bad when you’re a model trying to inspire other people. A couple really good photos I thought were Jaclyn’s, Molly’s, and Hananh and Britani’s. They were in a group together and they worked together beautifully, Mister Jay was quite pleased. At panel, Alex got best photo, which I think is wrong because of the way she acted at the photo shoot. She did get a stern talking to from Tyra but I don’t believe bad behavior should be rewarded in any way. They are looking for a top model, and a top model is not just a model picture, but also a model attitude, and I don’t think Alex has one. Molly had runner up, personally I think she or Jaclyn should have had best picture and other girl had runner up. I don’t think Alex belongs on this show, like Anamarie with her unhealthy body last season, Alex should have gone home the very first episode because of her unhealthy attitude. Sara and Dominique ended up in the bottom two, but Sara’s picture, although not the best she could do, was very nice, and I think there were a couple other girls on that level of okay but could be better. I suppose the judges had a reason for choosing her though, and I trust them as far as that goes. As for Dominique, she completely deserved to go home. Last week’s picture wasn’t good at all, this week’s picture wasn’t any better, and to have no inspiration or to not be focusing when in front of the camera is just unprofessional. I loved her unique look, but I don’t think she had the driving power to propel herself further. We’ll have to wait and see who in this competition does.
Now for those spoiler pics I was talking about. Molly did indeed get her hair fixed. Below are pics of her new look (Click pic to make bigger):
What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? Did I leave something out that was significant? We would love to hear from you!
