Ashton Kutcher To Replace Charlie Sheen On Two And A Half Men!

Late last night the 6 million plus followers of Ashton Kutcher on Twitter got a cryptic message from the Punk’d creator….”What’s the square root of 6.25?”…well, that of course is 2.5, leading many to speculate that he just might take over for the Tiger Blood Warlock.

Early this morning the news was confirmed that, indeed, Ashton Kutcher WILL take over for Charlie Sheen when the hit CBS series returns for it’s 9th season this fall. CBS and Warner Bros. Television has yet to release an official comment as they reveal their fall lineup on May 18th to advertisers in New York. This past March Sheen was fired from the show following bizarre (to say the least) behavior and public insults of the producers. Guess he didn’t hear the saying that you don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Even Hugh Grant had been considered for the role, but pulled out of negotiations on Wednesday citing creative differences. Kutcher is best known for his role on the hit Fox comedy “That 70′s Show”, although his movie career hasn’t been as successful. Two And A Half Men is the most watched comedy on television with about 15 million regular viewers; it’s advertising and syndication revenues have been quite lucrative for CBS and Warner Bros. respectively. Sheen had been the highest paid actor on TV at the time, getting about 1.2 million per episode but despite claims by him last month that CBS was in talks to reinstate him, Warner Bros. issued a statement saying there was no chance of him returning to the show.

So, what do you think? Can Kutcher draw in viewers like Sheen and cast could? I, for one, am excited by this. As a fellow Iowa native I couldn’t be more proud but I also think this will be a breath of fresh air for the show too. Plus, it sends a message that you can’t act like a raving lunatic and get rewarded for it. I think CBS/Warner Bros. definitely made the right call on this one!!

I just hope he isn’t tapped to actually play Charlie, but they re-write to bring him in as a new character. I wonder when Charlie will start spouting off about this LOL @charliesheen:twitter
