After The Voice’s results were revealed Tuesday night, Blake Shelton, Oklahoma native, confirmed to reporters that he and NBC have been moving quickly to organize a benefit event for Moore, OK. Shelton noted that he can phone in many favors at such a short notice for support during the telethon. Between his access to Nashville and fellow country music artists and his fellow Voice coaches, the lineup promises to be an entertaining and stellar one for a great cause.
“Healing in the Heartland” will air LIVE on May 29 at 9/8c on NBC and will raise funds for the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund. As announced Friday, a superstar lineup will help Shelton and Friends encourage support and donations from Americans to help the victims of the tornado that ravaged earlier this week. Style, E!, G4, Bravo and CMT will also air the special.
The special will take place from the Chesapeake Energy Center in Oklahoma City and tickets will be available to the public at 10 am CT on Saturday May 25. Grammy Award-winning artists Miranda Lambert, Reba and Vince Gill will also perform. Additional guests for the concert will be announced shortly. “Everyone has their way to help, and mine as an entertainer is to perform to help raise money and awareness for this tragedy,” Shelton said. “This is why I want to do this special and especially hold it in Oklahoma City, which is near ground zero.”
Ticket limits will be eight per person and will sell for $25 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the Chesapeake Energy Arena box office, all Ticketmaster locations, by phone at (800) 745-3000 and online at Ticketmaster.com.
