An Amazing Ripoff On The Amazing Race

amazingrace

The Emmy award winning reality series, The Amazing Race, has seen it’s ups and downs during it’s many seasons but on the November 15th, 2009 episode it hit a big snag in the eyes of many viewers. Join us in our forum to discuss! But let’s set the stage. During a roadblock, which is a task only one team member can perform, the teams were instructed to go to this mysterious building in Estonia. They were sent with a keyring full of keys and instructed that only one key would open the door, but they had to use their key to open it and the keyhole was in a stone wall.

At one point during this task, Sam and Dan, brothers, used another teams key once it was known which key worked, to enter the building, obviously saving them an immeasurable amount of time. Then the Globetrotters team followed another team in, once that team had found which key worked, effectively skipping the assigned task of not even having to go through their keys. This also saved them an immeasurable amount of time.

Meanwhile, the father and son team of Gary and Matt, who placed last in the previous leg and had to do a Speed Bump, while not quite caught up due to that Speed Bump weren’t apparently that far behind unless the CBS editing made it look that way.

‘Meet The Contestants From ‘The Amazing Race 15′

Reporting
Jenn McBride

STUDIO CITY, Calif. (CBS) ―

My friend/co-worker/favorite two-time Big Brother contestant Diane Henry is one of the smartest people I know; she competed on a CBS show before her employment at the company prohibited her from doing so (and came pretty darn close to winning the coveted $500,000 prize during Season 5, too).

I, on the other hand, am deeply saddened to be ineligible for one of the best reality shows on television: The Amazing Race. With mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer at the helm and jet-lagged contestants competing for $1 million every season, it’s no wonder the primetime hit – which takes viewers around the world from the comfort of their couches – has won all six Outstanding Reality Competition Program awards that have been given.

I recently sat down with host Phil Keoghan and all 12 teams competing on Season 15, which premieres Sunday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. on CBS 2. From Harlem Globetrotters to professional poker players, it’s easy to see why these unique contestants were selected. Meet them all:

Maria, 26, and Tiffany, 25
Hometown: Arcadia, Calif./Los Angeles, Calif.
Occupation: Professional Poker Players (Tiffany was the last woman standing at the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2008, an honor Maria held in 2007)
Relationship: Best Friends
Most likely to: play the other contestants

Amazing Race 15 – One team eliminated before leaving the starting line!

CBS Press Release:

BIGGER PREMIERE, FASTER COURSE,
ONE TEAM GOES HOME BEFORE LEAVING THE STARTING LINE

CBS Announces the 12 Teams Racing in the 15th Installment Of The
Emmy Award-Winning Series “The Amazing Race” Premiering on Sept. 27

CBS today announced the 12 Teams set to compete in THE AMAZING RACE 15, which premieres with a special two-hour episode on Sunday, Sept. 27 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.  2009 Emmy Award nominee, Phil Keoghan, is the host.

Contestants will travel one of the fastest courses ever assembled on the Race — spanning eight countries in just 21 days.  Season 15 also features the quickest elimination in the history of the series, sending one Team home before they leave the starting line.  Teams fortunate enough to avoid the surprise elimination and compete for the $ 1 million prize will face the “Switchback,” which sends Teams back to the site of one of the series’ most infamous Roadblocks, as well as a surprise appearance by one of America’s most beloved entertainers, a visit to the world’s tallest building and a spicy twist on a Japanese game show.

Tammy/Victor win The Amazing Race 14!!! A Retrospective On The Season.

Well folks, it’s over. Another season of The Amazing Race has come and gone and with it, we have winners! Tammy and Victor Jih, siblings from San Francisco and Los Angeles, California were declared the winners of The Amazing Race 14 after crossing the finish line first, naturally. All three of the final three teams had been bunched up at the final roadblock, the surfboard fence, where each person had to remember events from each leg, find a surfboard with the correct symbols and put them in the right order. Luke and Margie, mother and son, had been ahead at this challenge, arriving first and Luke having correctly placed the first 9 of 11 boards, but became caught on the last two. Cheerleaders and friends, Jaime and Cara caught up with the other two teams, and in the end their team and Luke and Margie helped each other to finish but ultimately Tammy and Victor finished first, got a lucky cab and claimed the one million dollars.

In my opinion this has been one of the better seasons of the reality season, in the fact that I didn’t dislike any of the last three teams and was happy with whoever won. My personal preference as a sentimental favorite was Margie and Luke, but I liked all three. But let’s take a look back at all the teams and some thoughts from our forum members on the season as a whole.
