In what is a somewhat surprising move, CBS has made a schedule shift this late in the season to keep their “Golden Boy” in a more golden time slot. CBS’s initial plans to premiere “Golden Boy” on a Tuesday was just for show – to garner some support from the NCIS rabid following and hope some of that following migrates to Friday, when “Boy” was supposed to shift there March 8. Thursday afternoon, CBS announced a change of plans.
“Vegas,” after having spent its freshman season in the Tuesday night slot at 10/9c, will now shift to Fridays effective April 5, once the March Madness Friday telecasts on CBS come to a close. This leaves “Golden Boy” on Tuesdays at 10/9c following “NCIS” and “NCIS: LA” power hours.
However, CBS will still air a brand new episode of “Golden Boy” on March 8 at 9/8c as originally planned. Vegas has been pulling SLIGHTLY lower demo ratings than “Golden Boy” has in its 2 weeks on air. It seems the network sees that and hopes to capitalize. Does heading to the desert of Friday spell doom for “Vegas?” Not quite. CBS has had thriving dramas on Friday nights.
