Dancing With The Stars – 10/18/2010 Recap – TV Theme Night!!!

Bristol Palin in a monkey suit. Kyle Massey in a 70′s Disco outfit, with an afro wig. Cheryl Burke was probably the sexiest cop in the history of the show. All that and more happened on tonight’s Dancing With The Stars. Tonight was TV Theme night, and we got to see Michael J. Fox, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tracey Pollen, and some of the Hill Street Blues cast. Barry Williams came to the rehearsal studio to help his TV mom Florence Henderson too (remember his creepy revelation of their date during the Brady Bunch days?).

So, let’s get to the dancing, and not to pull a Julie Chen here, but first…….a half hour of retrospective on the remaining pairs by the judges. Hello, time fill much ABC? After the fluff, Brandy and Maks did the Quickstep to the theme of Friends. They were fantastic, and got all 9′s from the judges. Florence and Corky did an okay Tango to the theme from, wait for it, The Brady Bunch. It was so-so, and they scored 21 points. After that, Kurt and Anna were up, they danced to the theme of Bewitched and due to this writer being in an online class whilst trying to take notes for this article, she didn’t catch what dance they did. Whatever it was, it was good and they scored 24.

Audrina and Tony did an okay Rhumba, and again not surprisingly, they danced it to the theme of The Hills. Audrina looked beautiful! The judges commented on how she was doing great technically, but she had a bit of disconnect to the audience, and they gave her and Tony a score of 23. Kyle and Lacey did a bizarre Foxtrot to the Charlie’s Angels theme song. It was bizarre, although it fit the time genre well and as always, Kyle had a fantastic connection with the viewers. But they got the most disconnected scores of the night, ranging from an 8 to a 5. They ended up with 20 points.

Rick and Cheryl did the Rhumba to the Hill Street Blues theme song and no, Dennis Franz did not get blown up at the end of it. They did, this writer personally thought, extremely well and the judges thought so too, giving them a score of 24. Next up, the weirdest “Ma, I think those stamps I licked were yours from the 60′s” costume choice in the history of the show. They danced the jive to the Monkees theme and yet they were in gorilla suits. I do believe Darwin turned over in his grave, and somewhere in Ohio, Jack Hanna is screaming. Mark, Bristol, gorillas and monkeys are NOT the same. And Mark, you put Bristol not only in a gorilla suit, but in a pink tutu as well. Although Bristol did get props from the judges for improved connection to the audience, her technicality props slid down. She and Mark got the lowest score of the night, 18.

Finally, Jennifer “Nobody puts Baby in the corner” and Derek danced the Foxtrot to the theme of Married With Children. While their Argentine Tango was better last week, this still wasn’t as bad as the judges made it out to be. They scored a 24.

So here’s the leaderboard for this week:

Brandy/Maks – 27

Jennifer/Derek – 24

Rick/Cheryl – 24

Kurt/Anna – 24

Audrina/Tony – 23

Florence/Corky – 21

Kyle/Lacey – 20

Bristol/Mark – 18
