As the Yak reported earlier, Ellen Degeneres will no longer act as judge on American Idol. She released a statement earlier tonight regarding her departure from the show. You can read that here. Just hours later, we now have report that Jennifer Lopez has, in fact, signed a deal to sit as judge on the hit Fox show. American Idol will be entering it’s 10th season, set to air in January 2011. American Idol has started auditions for the 10th season, so the new judge’s panel will likely not be in effect immediately.
In other news, rumors are afloat that Steven Tyler has also been hired for the job. Both J.Lo and Steven Tyler’s deals have not been confirmed, while rumors are still afloat for Elton John, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson, Harry Connick Jr., Chris Isaak, Jamie Foxx, Bret Michaels and Sean “P Diddy” Combs. stick to the Yak for the up-to-the-minute updates on everything Idol!
