As the fading Fox phenom looks to improve ratings and the show’s success when it returns next season, the heads over at Fox are reportedly considering putting former show contestants behind the judge’s table. According to Vulture - who first broke the news – the discussions at Fox are very real, but in the early stages. Whether one or all slots will be filled by former contestants has yet to be determined.

It appears that Kelly Clarkson, who appeared on ABC’s short lived Duets, and Jennifer Hudson have been approached. Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert’s names have been thrown around, as well. Fox and the heads of Idol have plenty of time to make the decision. If talks about this plan, which has been thrown out before, fall through, look for other names in the music business to be thrown around, as well.

Randy Jackson has already announced his departure from the show and all signs are pointing to Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj, and Mariah Carey to be replaced as well. There is also word that Fox may go back to a three judges panel and also consider replacing Exec Producer, Nigel Lythgoe. Fox has not made a comment.

If this idea works, it could breathe new life in the show, bring back old viewers who may have abandoned ship, and subtly remind America of the show’s success. Who would you like to see return to Idol?

After the departures of LA Reid and Britney Spears, the discussion on who would join the X Factor judging panel for the show’s upcoming third season went underway. Rumors have swirled, but it appears the minds have been made.

Joining Simon Cowell and Demi Levato are now reportedly Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child and Mexican Songstress Paulina Rubio. A confirmation could come as soon as Monday evening.

The X Factor has not been the hit Simon Cowell promised for the USA. How will the show’s third season fare with the new panel? Season three kicks off auditions this week in Charleston, SC.

The Peacock network confirmed to EW that Shakira and Usher will return to “The Voice” during the show’s 6th cycle, which will air in the spring of 2014. However, until then, joining Aguilera this Fall is former coach Cee Lo Green. The panel of Blake, Adam, Christina and Cee Lo will be reunited when the show’s red chairs swivel this fall.

Aguilera and Green recently took off the season’s 4th cycle to focus on personal projects. As such, Usher and Shakira will take the fall off for similar reasons.

Are you excited to see all of the coaches at some point in the next year?

Following NBC, Fox, and ABC (click the network to view their schedule), CBS has made a few noteable changes and touts their #1 status, as they can.

Of note, CBS is expanding their Thursday night comedy block, adding the much anticipated series featuring Robin Williams, James Wolk and Sarah Michelle Gellar. As such, Person of Interest will shift to Tuesdays at 10/9c. To make room to launch a new drama, Hawaii 5-0 will rest comfortably and Fridays, which has actually proven to be a good day for CBS. Without shifting their reality TV, CBS will also launch two new sitcoms on Monday, which will keep Mike & Molly until midseason. However, the Melissa McCarthy show will still get a full 22-episode season. Check out the full schedule below!

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Disney’s ABC network will become the first broadcast network to stream its shows live online through an ongoing service, starting with viewers of its TV stations in New York and Philadelphia on May 14 and expanding to its other stations by the end of the summer.

To promote its WATCH ABC service, through the end of June Disney is allowing all viewers of its WABC station in New York and WPVI station in Philadelphia to watch live ABC programs online or on mobile devices by downloading the WATCH ABC app, Disney said in a statement.

The app will initially allow users to be able to watch the service on Apple’s iPad and iPhone and on the Kindle Fire device, and later this summer on Samsung Galaxy devices.

Other networks are expected to follow Disney, as traditional broadcasters scramble to keep viewers watching its programs instead of drifting off to Netflix and other online services.

In April, CBS made an investment in Syncbak, a technology company that works with local TV stations to stream programming to consumers over the Web.

Starting on July 1, Disney will only provide its WATCH ABC service to subscribers of cable, satellite and other TV subscription services that have agreements with ABC to offer the service to their subscribers in New York and Philadelphia. Subscribers must provide an authentication code to be granted access to the shows.

Later this summer, Disney said it will expand use of its WATCH ABC service to authenticated subscribers that receive its TV stations in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham and Fresno, California.

The company signed an agreement with Hearst Television to offer the service as well to Hearst’s 13 ABC affiliates, including Boston, Pittsburgh and Kansas City. The stations will offer the service “in the coming months,” the two companies said.

Users of WATCH ABC will be able to access programs on demand as well as watch live programs, Disney said.

Disney already offers similar services to subscribers of three of its Disney Channel outlets – WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney XD and WATCH Disney Junior – and through its WATCH ESPN service for several of the sports channel outlets.

Not very many changes, compared to NBC and Fox, as ABC has only shifted the time slot of one of its returning shows. “The Neighbors” will shift to Friday, following “Last Man Standing.” Joss Whedon’s hyped “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will kick off an all-new Tuesday. “Dancing With the Stars” loses their results show, but the network insists that they still plan on doing two cycles next season.

Of note, ABC Pres Paul Lee said that “Once,” along with “Revenge” and “Scandal” will actually air in 2 batches of 12 episodes each. Limited series will fill the gaps, giving ABC original programming to run in the interim. Rebel Wilson grabs the post “Modern Family” slot and “Suburgatory” likely won’t return until midseason. Check out the full schedule below.

Season 4 is currently underway with the Top 12 performing this week for your votes!

The Wrap is reporting that Christina Aguilera will indeed be returning to her swiveling chair when the show starts filming Season 5 this summer. As such, Shakira will actually vacate her spot and continue working on producing her next album. Aguilera took the time off to promote her album Lotus.

While no word has been said about coaches Usher, Adam Levine or Blake Shelton, there is a major tour with Kelly Clarkson on the horizon for Maroon 5. Don’t count out an off season for front man Adam Levine. Blake has his new album out and an upcoming tour, but there is no word on whether or not that will interfere with “The Voice.” No other information regarding the other coaches has been announced.

Sunday, NBC released their fall schedule with quite a few changes, a near brand new Thursday comedy block, the shift of a few dramas and more. Fox revealed their schedule Monday morning with minor changes (mostly due to football) and the announcement of a few show hiatuses.

Among them is “Glee.” The music-themed show was recently renewed for TWO more seasons. This fall, “Glee” is set to kick off earlier than usual to allow for possible uninterrupted air before their usual mid-season hiatus. However, the network is touting a “creative twist” for the hiatus before the show returns in the late spring of 2014. It will then run later into the summer than usual. This will allow “Rake” to premiere. Also, “The X Factor” will also premiere earlier than usual to allow for the same schedule friendly launch. As for “American Idol,” Fox is only confirming the reports that Randy Jackson won’t return next season, but is not commenting on whether the other three judges will leave the panel. Fox boss Reilly did hint at a possible return to three personalities on the panel with fresh new twists to hopefully salvage the viewers recently lost.

Fox also confirmed the comeback of “24.” The thriller will be revived in May 2014 and will feature 12 episodes of “24: Live Another Day.” Reilly explained that “It will go chronologically over the day, but it will skip hours. It will be dictated by the plot. The spine of the original 24 episodes was about 12 hours,” Reilly pointed out. “Those were when the big events occurred, and then there were little events and connective tissue in between. So [we're] taking the best 12 [of the 24].”

Meanwhile, over at the Peacock, NBC confirmed the premiere of “The Voice” cycle 5, which will kick off Sept 23. Season 4 is currently underway as the Top 12 perform LIVE Monday night. In anticipation, NBC’s LIVE musical rendition of “The Sound of Music,” headlined by Carrie Underwood as Maria von Trapp, will air December 5, 2013. No other cast announcements have been made.

CBS doesn’t get their day until Wednesday, but the Eye announced the next two Grammy telecasts – Jan 26, 2014 and Feb 8, 2015. Stick around Tuesday and Wed as ABC and CBS reveal their schedules and more scoop is likely to seep out!

Another Upfront day, another Fall Schedule. This time courtesy of FOX, where the network will take on the graveyard previously known as “Friday nights” with an hour-long comedy block, and bring in new shows to help kick off the Tuesday night lineup. Take a look at what changes the network is making to their schedule, including where some of your favorites will end up, when FOX puts this into place this Fall.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fox is going deep with comedy on its fall schedule, adding an hour of laffers on Friday and opening its Tuesday lineup with high-profile newcomers from Seth MacFarlane and Andy Samberg.
In all, six new comedies, including animated “Murder Police,” and four drama series are ready to join Fox’s 2013-14 schedule.
Fox has set its first event limited series, thriller “Wayward Pines” from M.Night Shyamalan, to air next year. And while the Super Bowl may be nine months way, the network said it plans to run a block of “New Girl” and one new comedy behind the big game in February. Fox is also expected to tout plans to revive “24″ as a limited event series at its upfront presentation to advertisers at Gotham’s Beacon Theater.
With all of the major networks investing big in comedy programming, industry insiders have been expecting the networks to experiment again with comedies on the night that has been little trafficked for some time. In late fall, Fox will pair returning domestic comedy “Raising Hope” in the 9 p.m. hour with frosh “Enlisted,” about three brothers who get to know each other again on an Army base in Florida.
Fox’s most anticipated new laffers, MacFarlane’s live-action “Dads” and Samberg-starrer “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (pictured), from “Parks and Recreation” duo Dan Goor and Michael Schur, will open Tuesday night, leading in to “New Girl” and the second season of “The Mindy Project.” “Brooklyn” stars Samberg and Andre Braugher as odd-couple police detectives. “Dads” revolves around two best friends whose lives are turned upside down when their fathers move in.
Durable drama “Bones” will open the week in the Monday 8 p.m. slot, followed by newcomer “Sleepy Hollow.” In the late fall, the J.J. Abrams’ robot-cop vehicle “Almost Human” will take over the 8 p.m. hour and be paired by mid-season with season two of “The Following.” “Bones” at that time will shift to Friday 8 p.m. leading into the new comedy block.
Tuesday remains a four-stack of comedies.
Wednesday will be home to two-hour sets of “The X Factor” in the fall and “American Idol” for mid-season.
Thursday in the fall opens with “X Factor” followed by “Glee.” By mid-season “Idol” will be leading into new drama “Rake,” starring Greg Kinnear as a charming defense attorney.
Friday in the fall will open with “Junior MasterChef” reality show followed by reruns of “Sleepy Hollow” before the “Bones” and comedy lineup kicks in. Saturday remains a sports block in prime-time and home to the “Animation Domination High-Def” block from 11 p.m.-12:30 a.m.
Sunday stays status quo with football leading into animation block comprised of “The Simpsons,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “Family Guy” and “American Dad.”
Fox new series pickups that will eventually be slated for mid-season include comedies “Surviving Jack,” “Us and Them,” “Murder Police” and drama “Gang Related.”
With the television Upfronts happening in New York this week, the networks are beginning to release their Fall and Midseason schedules. The Peacock network shared their plans for the 2013-2014 TV season with 6 new fall shows, including allowing Blacklist (starring James Spader) to snag the impressive spot after The Voice.
Check out all the latest info about the new shows after the article!
NBC will give its buzziest new drama, the James Spader espionage thriller Blacklist the enviable post-Voice time slot this fall. The network will also shift veteran comedy Parks and Recreation to the lead-off slot Thursdays at 8 p.m. as it attempts to build a new generation of “Must See TV” comedies with three new half-hours on the night: Welcome to the Family; Sean Hayes’ Sean Saves the World and The Michael J. Fox Show.
Parenthood will move to Thursday’s at 10 p.m. And JJ Abrams‘ hit freshman drama Revolution will move to Wednesdays at 8 p.m.
Dramas Believe and Crisis will be held until midseason when NBC will attempt to use The Voice to lift two new comedies – About a Boy and Family Guide – on Tuesdays at 9 and 9:30 p.m., the same hour that saw canceled comedies Go On and The New Normal struggle this past season.
Also set for midseason, though not yet on the schedule, are dramas Chicago PD and The Night Shift, new comedy Undateable and the 13-episode order for Community.
For decades, ex-government agent Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) has been one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives. Brokering shadowy deals for criminals across the globe, Red was known by many as “The Concierge of Crime.”
Now, he’s mysteriously surrendered to the FBI with an explosive offer: he will help catch a long-thought-dead terrorist, Ranko Zamani, under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth “Liz” Keen, an FBI profiler fresh out of Quantico. For Liz, it’s going to be one hell of a first day on the job.
What follows is a twisting series of events as the race to stop a terrorist begins. What are Red’s true intentions? Why has he chosen Liz, a woman with whom he seemingly has no connection? Does Liz have secrets of her own?
Zamani, we come to find out, is only the first of many on a list that Red has compiled over the years: a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. He will help catch them all… with the caveat that Liz continues to work as his partner. Red will teach Liz to think like a criminal and “see the bigger picture”… whether she wants to or not.
From writer/executive producer Jon Bokenkamp (“Taking Lives”) and executive producers John Eisendrath (“Alias,” “My Own Worst Enemy”) and John Davis (“Gulliver’s Travels,” “Predator”) comes a global thriller that will become more mysterious with each name on the list. One-hour drama.
IRONSIDE – WEDNESDAYS 10/9 CENTRAL
In the gritty world of the NYPD, no one’s tougher than Detective Robert Ironside. He’s a fearless cop who won’t stop until the guilty are brought to justice. He and his trusted, handpicked team of specialists will do whatever it takes to solve New York’s most difficult and notorious crimes – even if it means breaking the rules.
Tough, sexy and acerbic, Ironside’s never been afraid to call it like he sees it. As a detective, his instincts are second to none, and those around him have to stay on their toes if they want to keep up… because when his spine was shattered by a bullet two years ago, Ironside swore he’d never let a damn wheelchair slow him down.
Justice. Nothing gets in his way. Blair Underwood stars in a bold new drama about a different kind of cop. One-hour drama.
WELCOME TO THE FAMILY – THURSDAYS 8:30/7:30 CENTRAL
After four years of barely getting by in school, Dan and Katrina Yoder are thrilled when their daughter Molly is handed her high school diploma. Now it’s off to Arizona State for Molly, and a mid-life renaissance for the Yoders (which includes turning Molly’s room into their dream fitness center).
At the same time in East LA, Junior Hernandez is delivering his valedictorian address. As the first of his family to go to college (Stanford!), Junior’s the pride and joy of parents Miguel and Lisette. But Junior’s barely into his speech before he gets an unexpected text: “i’m pregnant.” The sender? Miss Molly Yoder. OMG/Dios Mio!
What follows is the ultimate culture crash as Molly and Junior decide to get hitched, bringing two very different families together in a way they never imagined. Dan and Miguel, who already have a history, do NOT see eye to eye. But more importantly, what about Stanford? Arizona State? Who’s going to raise the baby? And oh no – what about the fitness center?! For the sake of their kids (and the one on the way) they’ll have to somehow make it all work… like it or not.
From writer and executive producer Mike Sikowitz (“Rules of Engagement”), comes a comedy that proves: Life is full of unexpected little bumps. Half-hour comedy (single camera).
SEAN SAVES THE WORLD – THURSDAYS 9/8 CENTRAL
Sean’s a divorced gay dad who’s trying to juggle it all. From his overbearing boss and offbeat employees at work – to his pushy mom and weekends with his teenage daughter at home – handling it all is no easy task. So when Ellie, his 14-year-old bundle of joy, moves in full-time, it’s a whole new challenge.
Never one to do anything halfway, Sean’s intent on being the best dad ever – so he loads up on parenting how-to books and plans Pinterest-worthy family dinners. But it seems his company’s new owner has decided Sean and his team should work longer hours, throwing a kink in his perfectly constructed homemaking plans. Ellie, a normal girl who wants to hang with her friends and eat on the run, sees this development as a plus. She loves her dad, but he’s clearly going overboard.
From keeping his boss happy, his employees motivated and enduring his mother’s tactless “advice” to raising a smart, grounded and healthy kid, it’s going to be a growing experience, to say the least. But if anyone can swing it, it’s Sean.
Sean Hayes (“Will & Grace,” “Hot in Cleveland”) returns to NBC in a new comedy from executive writer/producer Victor Fresco (“Better Off Ted,” “Andy Richter Controls the Universe”) about work and family… the ultimate balancing act! Half-hour comedy (multi-camera).
THE MICHAEL J. FOX SHOW – THURSDAYS 9/8 CENTRAL
Look who’s making the news again. One of New York’s most beloved news anchors, Mike Henry (Michael J. Fox), put his career on hold to spend more time with his family and focus on his health after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. But now five years later, with the kids busy growing up and Mike growing restless, it just might be time for him to get back to work.
Having never wanted Mike to leave in the first place, his old boss Harris Green jumped at the chance to get him back on TV. The trick, as it’s always been, was to make Mike think it was his idea. After several – okay, many – failed attempts, Mike’s family, anxious to see him out of the house, finally succeeded in getting him to “run into” Green. Now their plan is in motion. He’ll be back to juggling home, family and career, just like the old days – only better.
Still got it… Michael J. Fox returns to NBC in a new comedy from writer and executive producer Sam Laybourne (“Cougar Town”) and executive producer Will Gluck (“Easy A”). Half-hour comedy (single-camera).
DRACULA – FRIDAYS 10/9 CENTRAL
Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers (“The Tudors”) stars in this provocative new drama as one of the world’s most iconic characters.
It’s the late 19th century, and the mysterious Dracula has arrived in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. He’s especially interested in the new technology of electricity, which promises to brighten the night – useful for someone who avoids the sun. But he has another reason for his travels: he hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan… until he becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.
From the producers of the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning hit “Downton Abbey” comes “Dracula,” a twisted, sophisticated and sexy take on Bram Stoker’s classic novel, proving that some stories never die. One-hour drama.
Just after announcing the cancellation of “Touch,” it appears Fox has plans to revive “24″ as a limited series engagement. Kiefer Sutherland is in talks to reprise his role as Jack Bauer.
“24″ ran for eight seasons on Fox, ending in 2010. Shortly after, Sutherland took on his role on “Touch.” This may be the result of discussions for a movie that many fans and producers want to happen. Howard Gordon, “24″ and “Homeland” producer, has reportedly pitched the idea to the network and it appears the plan may be put to action. No word on what “limited” means, but this will sure excite fans of the high octane thriller!
May Madness is upon us, ladies & gents. Picking up from yesterday’s cancellation of “Deception,” NBC has made a slew of announcements regarding their primetime fare with more announcements to come. Shall we start with the good or bad news?
The good news: NBC has renewed “Parks and Recreation” for a sixth season, scoring a 22-episode pickup. “Parks and Rec” now joins “Grimm,” “Chicago Fire,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and “Revolution” as renewals at NBC.
Meanwhile, the Peacock is also cleaning house, as it announces official cancellations of “Up All Night,” “1600 Penn,” “Whitney” and “Guys With Kids.” “Animal Practice,” “Deception,” and “Do No Harm” are other official cancellations from the network thus far. More news (good and bad) are expected later.
Over on the Eye Network, CBS appears to have made headway on contracts that will open the door for the renewal of Criminal Minds. All five main cast members should return for the show’s 9th season.
In what appears to be the start of cleaning house over at “American Idol,” Randy Jackson will be stepping down as judge, after spending 12 – READ THAT DAWG – seasons with the show. He is no longer “in it to win it.” Randy Jackson broke the news to E! News
“Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season. I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry.”
Jackson added he planned to focus on his company, Dream Merchant 21, as well as “other business ventures.” The news from the show’s only original judge remaining comes not long after recent reports that Idol might be cleaning house – even up to the top with executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe. No other confirmed changes with the reality competition has been announced.
Also, Fox has officially axed “Touch,” starring Kiefer Sutherland. The drama has been struggling to maintain an audience during the show’s second season.
Over on the CW, “Nikita” and “The Carrie Diaries” will be making a return!
