Yep, you read that right. The doctors at Seattle Grace will apparently try and find a way to burst into song while removing telephone poles from people’s torsos and transplanting organs. Or will they?
Creator and producer, Shonda Rhimes spoke to TVGuide about the upcoming musical episode and revealed a few details. The episode has been something she has been wanting to do since Season 1 and believes now is the right time, since they’ve made their footing on primetime TV. Since Sara Ramirez (Callie) is a Tony winer, the episode will actually be Callie-heavy, “but it’s a story that we would’ve told whether there was singing or not,” Rhimes said. As for what the episode will be about, Rhimes carefully spills as little as she can. “We’re not going to have an episode where you turn on the television and people are singing for no reason. It has a reason, there’s a story underneath it and there’s a point to the whole thing. I’m still nervous about it, because you can do something like this and it can come out not the way you intended. I have been working on this very carefully because I want it to still be our show, but also heighten it.”
Have no fear Grey’s fans…no one will be bursting out into song and dance in the halls a la Glee. No word yet on the songs that will be used in the episode, but Rhimes did mention that it will include the songs that helped make Grey’s what it is today. “Chasing Cars” and “How to Save a Life” anyone?
