On the heels of the mega successful and rating stomping “The Sound of Music: Live” starring Carrie Underwood which aired on NBC last December, Fox announced that “GREASE LIVE” will hit your small screens later this year. No word yet on air date and casting, but the competition is surely getting themselves in the game.
In addition, NBC had already announced that this year’s LIVE production will be dedicated to “Peter Pan,” with a near holiday date expected.
Earlier today, NBC also announced their plans for 2015. “The Music Man” will be the third LIVE production the network will tackle next year. The 1957 Broadway musical centers around Harold Hill, an instrument salesman who makes false promises to help a town in Iowa start a marching band. When he falls for Marian, a suspicious librarian, he ends up sticking around town longer. Matthew Broderick and Kristen Chenoweth starred in the ABC TV remake of the 1962 movie, which starred Robert Preston and Shirley Jones.
