No official word from NBC about this, but with the announcement of The Voice returning this fall, the internet is buzzing that we may possibly get new coaches in the spring as the current coaches can’t obviously handle that much commitment with their careers, as well. The Voice will return this fall with coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green. A third hour has been added, as The Voice has landed a Tuesday slot at 8/7c.
NBC Unveils it’s Fall 2012/2013 Schedule
NBC chairman, Bob Greenblatt, was confident that The Voice could withstand running twice a year, especially if the show’s format was tweaked to keep things fresh. Greenblatt told The Hollywood Reporter, “I’m not worried about it running out of steam. But we’re constantly looking at the format and the way the show lays out.”
According to Greenblatt, the fall’s tweaks will include the possibility of extending the show’s blind auditions and getting to the LIVE shows sooner than before. “Nobody likes to have a dip in the ratings,” he says. “And I think we’re going to be smart about how to change that.”
The Voice: Who Won, Levine v. Aguilera
*IF* this is at all true, I really hope they scrap this idea. The appeal of the Voice is it’s original and different way at approaching a musical competition. I think if they overload our TVs with it, in an oversaturated landscape with musical competitions anyways, it will lose it’s appeal to viewers. As we learn more, we’ll report it. Until then, what do you think about this possibility? Would you watch the show twice a year?
