Welcome to our second Oscar Week ‘Meet the Nominees’ article! Today, as yesterday, we feature one nominee from each acting category, as well as the next two nominated films!
Jeff Bridges
First up, our second nominee for the Best Actor category, Jeff Bridges! He is nominated for his brilliant work as Marshal Reuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn in True Grit; a character who seems full of himself, standoffish and gruff when you first meet him, but as the movie progresses, we the audience learn that he loves talking about himself, yet seems starved for company. Oh, and he loves himself a good drink! Bridges plays this iconic role to it’s fullest, taking over the role that John Wayne made famous. He’s brilliantly nuanced, and takes each emotion in the direction intended. You genuinely feel like you were sucked into his world and what he feels, you feel as well. It’s a great follow-up to last year’s award winning role in Crazy Heart. Well done Jeff!
