Next on the Best Supporting Actor list is Mark Ruffalo, for The Kids Are All Right. Ruffalo plays Paul, a man who years earlier acted as an anonymous sperm donor for a married lesbian couple in California. This couple had two children, one of which is about to leave for college, but both have a curiosity about their father and go in search of him. When he is brought into their lives and the lives of their mother, he becomes enamored of them, and is more and more intertwined. One of the “moms” becomes annoyed with him, and another he hires to do landscaping work which eventually leads to an encounter that could tear the family apart.
