Welcome to our final installment of Oscar weeks’ Meet The Nominees! It’s been a fun week, and SO exciting to be just over 48 hours away from the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. So let’s get down to it and wrap up our introductions.
Our final Best Actor nominee is James Franco, for 127 Hours. Franco plays true-life adventure climber Aron Ralston, who in 2003 suffered a freak accident near Moab, Utah. Hiking alone, Ralston falls into a ravine and is wedged with his arm trapped under a boulder. He’s stuck there for 5 days (hence the title) with little food and water until finally he frees himself in a way that most people wouldn’t have the fortitude to go through. With the brilliant camera work director Danny Boyle utilizes, we get a unique viewpoint that otherwise wouldn’t have shown us the humanity Franco brings to this role.
