[singlepic id=342 w=240 h=320 float=left]Finally, the last Best Supporting Actress nominee is Jacki Weaver for Animal Kingdom. This movie tells the story of 17 year old J (“Josh) as he tries to survive in an explosive criminal family and the detective who tries to save him. Weaver plays J’s grandmother, a tiny little blond woman nicknamed Smurf, who is a cold blooded matriarch. Critic Bob Mondello states that Weaver’s performance is one that “you shouldn’t – and can’t – take your eyes off of”. This award, like many as of late in the awards circuit, has thrust her into the spotlight and made her a known name in Hollywood.
