Project Runway All-Stars: When 10 Become 9!

Getting down to the best of the best of the all-stars now with 10 designers left! This week the designers challenge is to pick a photo sent in by the fans, and then interpret the picture into a fashionable design. Oooo! The concept itself is very interesting, some of the pictures look kind of hard to interpret but the designers are determined!

The prize for this challenge is an editorial and photo in USA Today, which like most prizes is one that everyone has to win! As the winner of the previous challenge, Emilio gets to pick first, and then two by two each of the designers pick photos! We don’t see any designers wanting the same photo, so the drama doesn’t start there. Laura doesn’t get picked until the end and is upset, because she thinks no-one likes her, or they are scared of her? That sort of seems unlikely as she was in the bottom last week.

Once again, as much as they put filler in the episode, there wasn’t really that much drama. Mainly, Laura talking about how everyone dislikes her, and she is definitely being portrayed as the bitch of the season. She wasn’t this bad in season 9, right? Apart from that, everyone seems to really want to do justice for their photo, which is understandable. There is also a thing about how Andrae has his little quirks and eccentricities, and that he feels like the outcast! :(

When Joanna finally comes in,  this is probably one of the first times we have seen her talk to every designer (which signals that there is no drama). She seems to really like Uli’s and Ivy’s and she thinks Andrae’s is either bonkers, or brilliant!

Runway Show

This week, instead of the ‘Over-rated’, ‘Under-rated’ and ‘Fashion faux-pas’ of the week, I think I shall add another rating of the designs ‘Judges get it right‘, for the very few times when I think that the judges got the elimination, or winner right! I will only do 3 each week, depending on which are most prominent. This week, we are doing ‘Under-rated‘, ‘Judges get it right‘ and ‘Fashion faux-pas‘. They are as follows:

Under-rated: Casanova, gets this coveted position once again! He is definitely the Dmitry of this season for me, hopefully the judges will get it right in the end with him again! His outfit was just amazing! I think the styling was great, the outfit was definitely stylish, I think it deserved a place in the top three for sure, I think the most likely reason for it not being there is that it isn’t as loud as some of the other designs.

Judges get it right: Anthony Ryan – I am starting to see what the judges see with this look! It is modern, and I am a huge fan of lines and block colors so this look instantly won me over. The winner for me as well as the judges. Congrats on your second win, Anthony. The only tiny problem I have is the model, I know this shouldn’t change my view but I don’t this she is strong, so hopefully he will change:

Fashion faux-pas: Joshua, up to this week he has been my favorite designer, but he really let me down this week/ The outfit just looks so childish and as if its made in kindergarten. He is lucky he wasn’t eliminated, and I hope he can bring back the designs I love next week!

So in the real actual judging, Anthony Ryan took the win! And Andrae was sent home, which makes sense to me because even though I don’t think his design this week was the worst, he has not proved himself previous weeks like Joshua had.

In my table, as shown below, Anthony Ryan has jumped to a vast lead with two wins under his belt with Ivy in second place, 9 points behind. For me personally, Ivy has not proved herself, and Casanova really deserves to have a win by now! But we shall see how things play out!

Thank-you all for reading my recap! Do you agree with who was eliminated? And is there anyone not getting the recognition you think they deserve?

Much Love

Luke
