Survivor Philippines Recap: Who Wants Cookies?

Matsing Tribe

Hey Survivor fans! Great to be back for yet another season of Survivor Phillipines. This week the focus is yet again on the Matsing tribe. However in other tribe news R.C (Tandang tribe) finds the clue for the idol in the rice bag. Lisa runs off yet again giving R.C. the opportunity to snag the clue and hide it. Abi sees her. then R.C. and Abi read the clue and stash it. Abi later sees R.C. talking to Mike (looking at his many new injuries) and becomes paranoid and suspicious. She voices her opinion to R.C. and tells her she better not “F” with her. Rightly so, R.C. already has misgivings about making an alliance with Abi. You should really know a person for at least 5 minutes before you make a final 2 deal with them don’t you all think?

It is pouring rain and has been for an entire week. The Survivors are miserable, cold, wet and hungry. Lisa has a mini-breakdown crying and explaining that she is already on the “outs” with her tribe and that she’s extremely shy. I’m having a really hard time understanding this. Lisa says she has been a fan from Season 1. This means she knows what it takes to play the game, the social game. Lisa is an actress. Why she did not develop a character on her own to play this season is beyond me. She’s not comfortable being herself and excludes herself from the tribe. She complains about having no one however when Mike approached her last episode and tried to get her to open up, she basically shut down. She’s not doing herself any favors. She was certainly cast as a former child star and not for her personality.

Over at Kalabaw camp Jon Penner; one of the returning players, just wants to find the idol. He had previously found the clue in the rice bag. When the rest of his tribe mates ran off to the cave to escape the rain, Jon cleverly figured out that the idol was the decorative block on the top of the rice basket. Now will he be one of the more clever players and not tell anyone about the idol?

Malcolm & Angie, Matsing Tribe

Now for Matsing drama. Malcolm (hottie!) and Angie (cutie!) are snuggling at night. Of course they would be attracted to each other but it’s also freezing cold so they insist that’s the reason for the cuddling. Roxy notices first and doesn’t like it at all. This starts a tirade of hate for Angie and her boobs. First she complains that couples are a threat in the game and she tells Russ who also speaks with Denise. The complaints turn personal however and it’s extremely obvious that Roxy is jealous of Angie and Angie’s physical attributes and also that Malcolm is paying attention to Angie and not Roxy. Denise has an alliance with Malcolm since day one and feels caught in the middle. Russell likes that Roxy tells him what’s going on in camp and feels that after Roxy is gone, he’ll be next.

The Challenge:

Immunity Challenge

All three tribes converge for the challenge. It’s the first time anyone has seen the Matsing tribe after the InZanity last week. Zane is gone. Russ keeps his promise to the tribe and actually asks them what they’d like to do. Someone has to run twice and pull the sled and pick up the heavy puzzle tiles. Last week Angie said she was in track in high school but when Russ asks her to run twice she back peddles. He asks Roxy to run twice and she says no because she hasn’t drunk as much water as the others. WTF?? Why Malcolm didn’t run I don’t know. Apparently he’s the only one that didn’t say I’m bad at puzzles. The 3 tribes have to pull a sled 3 times and pick up heavy puzzle tiles and bring them back. Two people on each tribe have to assemble 3 puzzles while one person on the tribe is the caller. Russ and Angie start out really slow while the other 2 tribes run and grab their pieces. They appear uncoordinated and Russ stacks the tiles so that they fall off and they have to stop and restack them. Lisa is calling the puzzle for Tandang tribe. Tandang totally has it together and Lisa who is obviously really good at puzzles pulls off a win for their tribe! It’s very close but Kalabaw beats out Matsing. Back to tribal council for Matsing. Russ has a hissie fit and throws down a puzzle piece which prompts Probst to ask “How are you feeling Russell?” What a segue!!! Russ says he’s pissed and that his tribe needs to get their heads out of their asses. Hey way to make friends Russell.

Tribal Council:

Matsing Tribe to Tribal

Jeff does his digging to discover that Roxy is furious about the “Malcolm and Angie alliance.” Roxy again references Angie’s assets by calling it a “booby trap.” Seriously, this girl is green with envy. She also complains that her tribe “works too hard.” Seriously? are you serious right now? Denise dispels that, explaining that in order to stay strong for the challenges they need fire, water, food and shelter. Roxy apparently thinks God will provide that as he did the sun. The other tribe members mention that Roxy does squat around camp. I’m so tired of having to say this EVERY season but God doesn’t watch Survivor! I’m sure he’s too busy to bless one tribe and curse another! Jeff then asks Angie, “If you could change one thing in your tribe what would it be?” Angie’s quick witted reply is “cookies.” “Cookies?”, Jeff is appalled at her answer and the entire TV audience laughs until we all realize, Gee, that sounds good, I’m going for the cookie jar.

Time to vote. Looks like Angie with her “cookie” reply is going fast.
Surprise! Denise sticks with her Malcolm alliance and Roxy is sent packing. Good-bye Roxy. She went from being too quiet to too vocal and vehement.

What’s in store for next week? Will Jeff Kent make more baseball/Survivor analogies or has he run out? Will Blair, um er.. Lisa start talking to her tribe members or will she expect them to keep her just because she’s good at puzzles? Will Abi and R.C. have a falling out? Will Mike Skupin survive another day without a devastating injury? Will the showmance of Malcolm and Angie continue?

Until next week, outwit, outplay, outlast!

Look for our interview with exiting player Roxy coming soon!
