Wah Wah Boo Hoo, this weeks episodes starts off with the ever whining Abi crying about how she was so brutally treated at Tribal Council. The other castaways actually had the nerve to tell her she wasn’t very nice! Apparently Abi is surprised and shocked by this because she has a skewed self image. She commiserates with Malcolm who calls her “darlin” which seems totally out of character. She asks Penner his thoughts and for an apology. Penner tells her that he doesn’t really think that he owes her an apology and explains that she could have been nicer. (to everyone) This also shocks Abi but she agrees to hug Penner. She says she’s a warrior and a fighter and even though she used her idol to save herself last week, she’s not out of the game.
Today is the Survivor auction. Each survivor is given 500.00 and can bid on food and any other items up for auction. Since this is a recurring event each season Survivor fans know that there is always a twist at the end and someone can buy an advantage in that week’s immunity challenge. The seven remaining Survivors settle down to hopefully bid on some yummy items. The food is bid on fast and furiously. Without a blink Denise immediately bids on pancakes, bacon and orange juice to the tune of 500.00. She’s feeling mighty safe at tonight’s tribal because six of the seven have agreed to vote out Abi. Malcolm scores donuts and milk. Penner buys fried chicken and french fries. Lisa bids on a covered item and it turns out to be a giant submarine sandwich. Carter wins a covered item and when it is revealed that it’s some yummy food Jeff Probst throws in a twist and tells Carter he can trade it in for enough beans and rice to feed the remaining Survivors for the rest of their time on the island. Amidst cheers from his fellow tribe mates, Carter does just that. Finally Jeff P. uncovers a scroll and tells the Survivors that this item is an advantage in the immunity challenge. Abi who has saved her money for this opportunity immediately forks over 500.00.
Back at camp Abi reads her prize and it states that she will immediately have a 1 in 3 shot at immunity. She can fore go the first two rounds of the immunity challenge. She decides that she won’t tell the other tribe mates what the prize is and devises a plan to fool them into thinking she has a fourth immunity idol. She tells Malcolm that she has the fourth idol and that they better think of someone else to send home. Malcolm confesses that Abi’s like the girlfriend who won’t go away even when you break up with her. Her continued inability to read people and her lack of emotional intelligence completely validate that analogy. It leaves fans wondering how scary she would be in a fatal attraction scenario. (shivers).
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE:
As the tribe gathers to start the challenge, Jeff Probst explains the two twists on today’s immunity challenge. At the beginning of each section Jeff will ask a question. If you get the question wrong you will have to carry an additional 5% of your body weight in a knapsack. He also asks Abi to read the item she purchased at the auction. Abi lies and tells the other Survivors that there are two parts to the prize and that she will read the second part. The second part states that she can immediately pass the first two sections of the ropes course and proceed to the last section. She tears the paper into tiny pieces so that no one can read she is lying. You would think that someone attempting to be so manipulative would at least be a good liar! Don’t quit your day job Abi, acting is not in your future.
If any one of them besides Skupin bought into that lie I would be surprised.
The challenge is yet another ropes/ knot course. I don’t know about you but I’m really tired of these tired old rope courses. Can they build fire please?
Lisa is the only one not making it through the first section of the course. The others tackle section number 2. Penner is the only one who is not carrying weight from getting a question wrong. Penner and Carter finish first in the second section. Abi, Penner and Carter start the challenge of section 3. Abi is well rested while Penner and Carter are exhausted from the two previous sections. Carter is fast but Abi easily wins immunity. A collective groan is heard from fans around the world as well as Denise who says she is going to throw up.
As sore of a loser as Abi is, she’s even a worse winner. She gloats and floats around like she’s found the cure for the common cold.
Back at camp the alliance of four; Skupin, Malcolm, Denise and Lisa agree to vote out Penner.
Lisa says that she is not good at this game and is struggling with her conscience because she likes Penner more than anyone else out there. She decides to tell Penner about the alliance of four and that he’s getting voted out. Penner is in shock that Lisa is once again waffling. He approaches Carter and Abi and they agree to vote out Denise since Malcolm still has an idol. He works on Skupin to try and get the swing vote to stay.
TRIBAL COUNCIL:
Penner makes a great case for keeping himself in the game when he reminds the others that there is no way they are going to win in the finals against Malcolm or Denise. Abi is busy sucking up to the jury flashing them smiles and petting her immunity necklace. Malcolm is saying thanks a lot to Penner for bringing up the truth. It’s time to vote. As Denise walks by to cast her vote it appears Abi sticks her tongue out at her. Ever the 3 year old petulant child, Abi then casts her vote and makes malicious statements about Denise. It’s 3 votes Denise and 3 votes Penner. Lisa and Skupin remained faithful to their alliance and Penner is sent to the jury. Penner hugs Carter and Abi asks for a hug too. Penner says no, he’s only going to hug Carter.
With that Penner exits whistling the Survivor theme song.
