Ometepe tribe keeps Survivor Redemption Island sizzling with entertainment! On this weeks episode Phillip throws a hissy fit (again) and Rob throws a clue to the immunity idol into the cavernous hole of a volcano!
Redemption Island Challenge:
Phillip wants to witness the redemption island challenge so Rob goes along as a babysitter because “Phillip is a loose cannon and can’t keep his mouth shut.” Dave and Ralph attend from Zapatera tribe.
My favorite old TV game show, concentration! Matt and Stephanie are squared off on platforms overlooking a sea of tiles. When the tiles are turned over you have to make your match. Matt and Stephanie are tied 3 and 3 and then Matt makes two great matches to win once again! Stephanie is sent packing but not before warning Boston Rob that they are gunning for him, just like they gunned for Russell. Rob thanks her for that. Phillip goes into a long kiss-ass speech to Matt about how he is a samurai warrior and eyes roll once again. Matt returns to redemption island.
At Ometepe rice is cooking. The crunchy burnt rice that no one will eat at home is apparently a delicacy on Survivor. Rob is elsewhere and the girls are sharing his share of rice for his return. Phillip wants more rice, specifically the crunchy burnt rice on the bottom of the pot but the girls say it is Rob’s. This prompts Russell into doing his beat chest gorrilla thing where he says to the camera “Anywhere else I would be the elder statesman in the tribe and I demand respect!” He further states how the girls “cater to Rob” and that they actually sleep in his underwear and socks. (Seriously Phillip if you think anyone wants to sleep in your disgusting pink baggies your certifiable.) Phillip goes on to rant to the girls that they cater to Rob and that everyone should get an equal share of crunchy burnt rice. Hottie Grant offers Phillip his burnt rice and Phillip stomps off saying never mind and cries more to the camera. Rob returns and the girls tell him that Phillip is freaking out about Rob and the rice and Rob says “whatever.”
Rob realizes that Phillip is seething with jealousy for him and that he is Phillips biggest target. He wants to vote Phillip out before the merge. He talks to the other tribe mates and they are all on board with ousting Phillip if they lose the challenge.
Back at Zapatera Sarita starts telling Dave that she understands why he put her name down last week, etc. Dave says he doesn’t need a speech and that she’s the weakest and he has to be true to his feelings. Things are not good or cohesive at Zapatera.
The challenge?
Big obstacle course with numerous brick walls, climbing nets, bag retrievals, etc. Once you get to the end you have to get 6 balls into the skinny net to win. Ometepe takes an early lead because of Rob and because Sarita is slow. Dave takes Sarita’s place retrieving the next bag and makes up a lot of time for Zapatera. It’s neck and neck. Phillip slows down Ometepe greatly by his inability to be agile on the climbing nets. Zapatera is ahead. All they have to do is shoot 6 balls into the net. Ometepe gets to the net, Grant takes the balls and nets two balls instantly. Ometepe is ahead. Zapatera gets 4 balls in the net. Zapatera is ahead 4-2. Grant sinks to more balls. It’s 4-4. Zapatera gets another point 5-4. Grant sinks the final two balls and Ometepe wins immunity and reward for the 3rd straight week!
They are flown by helicopter to the top of an amazing volcano where they enjoy tons of food AND alcoholic beverages. In a tin of Pepperidge Farm wafer cookies Rob finds the clue to the secret immunity idol. Why is it that no one besides Rob has a clue that there’s always a clue at the reward. The girls were so excited about the alcohol and the candy they’re oblivious! Well they are only there to lay out in the sun so…
Rob on camera says once again I found the clue to the secret immunity idol but since I already have the idol I don’t need this. He tosses it unopened over his shoulder into the pit of the volcano. Phillip at this point is feeling very cozy with his tribe and feels like they are including him on the reward challenge. (I think he was a little drunk on alcohol and food).
Tribal Council
Back at tribal council Dave and Sarita are arguing back and forth over how the game is played and why each should stay. Not very exciting unless you like that tribe. Jeff counts the votes and by a vote of 4-2 David goes to redemption island. Now the Zapatera tribe has 5 and Ometepe keeps their 6.
Previews for next week! Now for the exciting part!! David and Matt will battle at redemption island. The winner of that challenge goes back into the game and the MERGE happens! Will Matt survive his final challenge at Redemption Island or will he be sent home after winning the challenges week after week?
