The teams continued their trek through Indonesia where a double anonymous u-turn was thrown into the mix. Why none of the first five teams opted to use the u-turn baffles me. Even if you had an agreement with the other teams on your train not to u-turn one another, why not u-turn one of the stronger teams bringing up the rear?
Don’t Drop The…
The teams take off in the order they arrived on the mat during the last episode. @Natalie and @Nadiya were the fist to depart, but unfortunately lost some time because their driver wouldn’t follow the other drivers shuttling Jaymes/James, Abbie/Ryan, and Trey/Lexi causing them to get lost.
The first road block takes place at a local restaurant where teams must serve a Padang meal consisting of 20 plates delivered to the table all at once. If they drop even one plate they have to return to the kitchen as Lexi learned when all her plates loudly crashed to the floor sending food flying everywhere.
Luckily Jaymes of Team Chippendales worked as a server in a previous life giving him a slight edge over the others. Jaymes and Ryan are the first two to finish the detour heading off to the train station where they’ll catch a train to their next destination. While on the train the racers must keep their eyes peeled for the next clue.
The rest of the teams finally make it to the restaurant and also finish the roadblock, but not without some crashing plates here and there.
The teams of Trey/Lexi, James/Abba, Brent/Josh and Natalie/Nadiya catch up with the others at the train station, the gods of luck aren’t smiling on Nadiya and Natalie this episode, not only did their driver get lost at the start, but they missed the train by mere seconds delaying them by three hours and sending them to the back of the race with the later starting teams.
The Detour
Participate in a traditional Japanese procession while balancing a 40 pound lions head and completing choreographed dance moves or balance a hollowed out coconut husk that’s lit on fire while the locals cook an egg for the team to eat.
Team Chippendales are in their element, @Jaymes gives the lion dance a little @chippendales hip thrust at the end. The line (okay, lines), of the night goes to Jaymes:
Jaymes to @James: “You put your mouth on it. You hold it in your mouth.” (I bet he says that to all the boys!)
Jaymes: “I don’t know how many dudes have had their mouth on this thing before me. I think I must’ve made out with like 947 Indonesian people today alone, just by putting that thing in my mouth. You’re just tasting Indonesia, I’m tasting years of culture right there in my mouth, it was not pleasant.”
Abbie and Ryan finish the detour first followed by Team Chippendales, Trey/Lexi and James/Abba. Josh and Brent were the only team on the first train that opted to get egg on their head. The first train of teams opts not to use the double u-turn and go on their way to next pitstop SMA Negeri 1 which is the number one local school. Abbie and Ryan the first team to the mat win a trip to Fiji. Congratulations Abbie and Ryan!
Meanwhile on the second train @Caitlan and @Brittnay are being a bit too cocky claiming they can beat any of the teams on the train with them. It was embarrassing to watch these two as they made their way through this leg of the race, they were rude and condescending to many of the locals they came into contact with. It’s always interesting to see true colors come out in the face of frustration.
Everyone on second train opted to complete the lion’s head detour. Once again Will and Gary are pulling up the rear of the pack, like last week Gary all but gives up complaining they’re in last place. He’s really beginning to get on my last good nerve, if you aren’t in it to win it, go home! Nadiya and Natalie finish the detour first and head to the u-turn where the elect not to u-turn the other teams. Kelley and Rob are next to the u-turn and choose to use on it Gary and Will.
This was a leg for getting lost, Brittnay and Caitlan get lost. Will and Gary see they’ve been u-turned, but before heading back to complete the egg detour the decide they’re going to use the u-turn. The have trouble making up their mind between Kelley/Rob and Brittnay/Caitlan, unfortunately in the end they elect to u-turn Kelley and Rob who are already on their way to the pitstop.
Still lost Caitlan and Brittnay arrive at the egg detour where the find Will and Gary completing the detour. It was amusing to watch, while the teachers are eating their eggs, the girls are aimlessly wandering around looking for the u-turn. After wasting valuable time the girls finally stumble upon the u-turn and continue on. The girls pedicab driver is extremely slow, so slow that the teachers have actually passed them up. The girls continue with their disrespect of the locals by screaming at their pedicab driver & they’re pissed the guy doesn’t speak English. Really you’re in a foreign country and you expect the locals to speak English? SMDH
A Steaming Heap of Karma
After the girls pedicab driver catches up with the teachers they come to a fork in the road, the teachers go right and the girls go left. Yet again, Gary and Will barely finish the race. It’s unbelievable that they managed to beat Caitlan and Brittnay. I hope the girls learned a valuable lesson and remember to treat everyone with respect and dignity before karma comes back to bite them again.
