Wanna Be On Top? Catch up with America’s Next Top Model!

Cycle fifteen is here, three episodes and fabulous new prizes, here’s the latest to get you all caught up:

On episode one, fourteen girls were chosen to begin the race for America’s Next Top Model. Anamaria, Ann, Chelsey, Chris, Esther, Jane, Kacey, Kayla, Kendel, Lexie, Liz, Rhianna, Sara, and Terra. The prizes this year are amped way up, a modeling contract with IMG Models, a fashion spread in Vogue Italia, and an additional spread and cover of Beauty In Vogue. As always there is the $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics, but the rest of the cycle has gone completely high fashion.

On episode two, we got straight down to business. The guest judge was designer Diane Von Furstenberg who the girls did a runway show for, four stories in the air. Anamaria believed that she had no flaws, but tripped on the stairs. Kacey, who has always worn glasses, took them off and walked the runway nicely, blindly. The photoshoot was all about being bullied, the girls chose the word that hurt them the most and their power word. The best photo was Ana, her bully word was giant and her power word that Tyra came up with was amazon. Runner up was Kayla, her bully word was queer (she is a lesbian and came out in high school) and her power word was free. The bottom two were Anamaria and Terra, Anamaria had trouble because Jay and the photographer, Deborah Anderson, disliked her extremely thin body. Terra cried, the pressure was a lot on her and she couldn’t keep it together. In the end, Anamaria went home because the judges didn’t want to send the message that an unhealthy body meant a beautiful body. We here at the Yak hope she get’s the help she needs.

Episode three was the makeover episode! Gotta love the drama of the makeovers! Lexie, Ana, and Rihanna played a prank on the house and made a fake list of the makeovers, which some of the girls believed and got frightened. Lexie loved it, Ana cried over it, and it seemed Rhianna was somewhere in the middle. Here are the real makeovers: -Kayla went from long and blonde, to medium length and firey red. -Esther went from brown to very, very dark-almost black. -Sara went from blond beach babe to bleached eyebrows and chocolate brown hair. -Ana got extensions, extensions, extensions in her natural color. -Kacey got contacts and layered length. -Rihanna got extensions in a color a bit more brown than her natural color. -Chris got a weave and some long locks. -Lexie went from blond to a lighter brown and a little longer hair. -Liz went from her some short, some long to all short. -Kendel also got a weave and very long black hair. -Terra got a short cut with a wave a hair over her forehead. -Jane got blonder with highlights and a little bit of length was added to her. -Chelsey went from brownish hue to a bleached blond babe, and she got the gap in her teeth widened to give her a Lauren Hutton look. Liz told the Jays that this is not what she would do with her hair, Terra cried again because her hair was getting cut, and then there was a photo-shoot for the girls new looks. Most girls delivered, but two were singled out; Lexie for disappointing and Sara for lacking energy. Immediately after the makeovers, the Jays announced that someone was to be eliminated right there and then.  They ultimately decided to eliminate Terra, sister to Chris, as breaking down twice in only the first two shoots was just too much.

The girls had another photo-shoot the next day, this time they were going to be angels fallen for a mortal man. The photo-shoot was with Anne Menke, and the girls were to pick a word they were going to portray in their photos. The girls were dressed up in black feathers and wings and strapped up in a harness with some sexy male models on the ground for them to be “fallen” for. Just about every photo turned out to be a disappointment to the judges. Tyra said it was the most disastrous photo-shoot yet. Jay was disappointed in Lexie again, Esther couldn’t match her face with her body, Sara looked like a dancer, and Kendel’s lust looked lacking. The judges chose four photos they claimed stood above all the rest, Kayla, Chelsey, Ann, and Chris. Ana got the best picture again, the judges think she’s a natural; Kayla got the second best photo again, then Chesley and Chris. The bottom two were Lexie and Sara. Lexie was chosen, according to the judges, because this was the second time she couldn’t deliver and Sara because she didn’t appear to be model material, rather looking more like a ballerina. In the end, Sara went home because the judges saw more model potential in Lexie.
