Yak TV Roundup: The Killing Resurrected? Fox’s Original Thanksgiving & More

Lots has gone on in the world of TV today, perhaps a post-election flood of news. So we’re going to lay out the deets for you in one handy piece of work.

First, AMC just might actually un-kill The Killing. Rosie Larsen’s murder mystery apparently has more to unravel and Netflix is close to a deal with AMC to resurrect the drama … but not just online. It could actually air on AMC first. Let that digest.

Earlier today, Fox unveiled it’s holiday plans. Part of it’s plans include original programming on Thanksgiving. Many networks stray away for fear of low ratings as families typically spend the night together, but Fox hopes to bring those families together in front of the TV. Quality! In doing so, Fox will air a LIVE X Factor results show followed by Glee. Fox also has plans for holiday themed episodes for Animation Domination, it’s comedy block Tuesday, as well as an animated special based on “How To Train a Dragon.” The network will also air the only all fan voted country music awards show, hosted by Kristin Chenoweth and Trace Adkins – The American Country Awards. Fox’s full holiday plans will be listed below for your safe keeping. Note that The X Factor will crown its winner in a special two night finale on Dec 19 and 20.

The CW also has revealed its plans for the Sex and the City prequel, Carrie Diaries. The show will debut on Monday Jan 14 at 8/7c, shifting 90210 to what will become the old home of Gossip Girl, Mondays at 9/8c. Gossip Girl’s 2-hour series finale will air December 17. They also announced that Nikita will move to 8/7c on Fridays once ANTM: College Edition ends, beginning November 30.

Showtime announced plans for a special four-part event for The Big C. The show’s fourth season, titled The Big C: Hereafter, will conclude the story of the cancer ridden character, focusing on Cathy and all those who stood by her side during this time. No premiere date has been set. Finally, in other cable news, VH1 has announced it’s lineup for Diva’s Live – which will pay tribute to Donna Summer and Whitney Houston. Hosted by Adam Lambert, the special will feature Demi Levato, Miley Cyrus, Ciara, Kelly Rowland, and Jordin Sparks paying tribute to the legends. It’s OK if you’re scratching your head at most of this lineup. We are too.
