Yak’s Reality Check: America’s Next Favorite Dancer Survives a Big Loss

It’s Hump Day yet again … You know what that means Yakksters? *NO* the word hump has nothing to do with this. Minds out of the gutter please. It’s time for the next edition of Yak’s Reality Check! We’ve got a full lineup ahead of us, so click below and let’s get started. More updates to come! Don’t forget to come discuss in our forums!

So You Think You Can Dance: You know, the title of this show has always bothered me. It is kinda long, no? Anyways, that’s about the only complaint I have about this show. Cat is hotter than ever, but we won’t go there. The show took us to Los Angeles to show us the ups and downs of “entertainment.” Adam Shankman is still a little on the loopy side. Mary’s botox hasn’t really changed. Although she was slightly quiet last night. I wonder if she’s afraid she’ll end up leaving and being replaced by someone who has no knowledge with the talent the show exhibits. Nevermind, wrong show. (BTW, I LOVE Ellen!) After some amazing contempoary dance and tap trading, we saw our first Vegas bound contestants. Next up … PHOENIX! Tonight @ 8PM EST on FOX! After the show, come tell us what you think!

The Biggest Loser: I’m glad it’s on so that I can get the ugliness of this past Big Brother out of my head. There is one returning competitor: Danny. He was eliminated last season but on his own has lost 142 pounds. He WAS the heaviest competitor in Loser history until last night. The 16 contestants had to run/walk a mile along the same place where the marathon of last season was finished. There are some interesting people. And there are some very heavy ones including a woman who weighed in at 474 pounds. The heaviest ever on the Biggest Loser. Some people that really stood out for me were: Abby–She lost her husband, 2-year-old daughter and 2 1/2 week old son in a car accident in 2006. How someone survives that is beyond me, but she had everyone in tears when they were introducing themselves! Heck, she had ME in tears. Allen–He is a firefighter. He said he felt horrible because he felt he was getting in the way of rescuing and doing his job. He picked Abby to be his partner. Antoine-A fine young man. Something about him just makes me like him. Sean-Picked by Antoine to partner up. He’s a youth pastor. I will do more as I get more familiar with them. But during the first challenge at the very beginning of the show, Danny won immunity and when he picked his partner, Shay, she also got immunity. However Coach Mo got dehydrated and Tracy collapsed about 25 yards from the finish line. The entire crew except for Allen who physically could not move, went to assist her across the line. She lost consciousness and had to be helicoptered to the hospital. Coach Mo is her partner and he had to weigh in for both of them. And he succeeded in keeping them from being eliminated. But Alexandra was eliminated. Frankly I think she got the raw end of the deal because her partner, Julio, kept collapsing in the gym. Whatever. And Shay walked out when Jillian was yelling at her. Jillian kept telling her to make a choice. Shay was supposed to climb up the movable ladder but she didn’t want to do it. Jillian kept after her. See if that had been me, I would have looked Jillian square in the face and yelled “Well, damn, then I choose the treadmill.” That wasn’t the choice. The choice was to go on the ladder thing or leave. But I, being of sound mind and body, would have played the smartass card. Yep. And if Jillian had said to me “That wasn’t the choice.”, I would have responded “You said make a choice. You didn’t give me the choices, so I chose one for myself.” Ha!!!! Onward people! Don’t forget to come chat about this episode with us! Don’t miss the next episode, Tuesday @ 8PM EST on NBC! (~Post thanks to Grandmamichelf)

Survivor Samoa: 19th Season. 20 Castaways. Still Millions of fans. Cialis has nothing on this franchise. This season, they’re starting with an unprecdented twist. Surprisingly, they still have stuff to come up with for this game. Each tribe will have to choose a leader IMMEDIATELY. Go figure. Putting your faith in a stranger on a reality game show. Oh, there is supposedly the biggest villain in Survivor history plauging the Samoa islands. As long as these contestants shower more than Big Brother 11′s Natalie (which should be too difficult – 1 shower will cover that quota), we’re sure to be in for a good season. Don’t miss the premiere of Survivor: Samoa on Thursday, Sept. 17 @ 8PM EST on CBS! Be sure to discuss the season with us!

Dancing With the Stars: Ok, let’s be honest for a second. Does anybody really think Tom Bergeron is funny? I’m just wondering. And who sits there watching and praying that Stacy Keebler will pop out of nowhere and flash her legs at us again? Now, that would be some twist! Now, in case the usual 2 night premieres aren’t enough for you, ABC is bringing you a three-night event. Seriously. Is ABC hurting that badly, they have to milk this show and give you a special on the backstage costume changes? Regardless, be sure to tune in for the anticipated season and join in our discussion! Maybe Tom DeLay really can dance. DWTS premieres on Monday, Sept. 21 @ 8PM EST on ABC!
