How I Met Your Mother: A Bitter End?

If you don’t want to speculate (or be spoiled if this is true) don’t read this article.

After last nights episode, it appears we may now know how this story ends, and it isn’t so sweet. It would however be a great ending to this long running show.

This speculation has been around for awhile, with little innuendos throughout the story. However, after last nights episode, it seems inevitable how this story may come to a close. For years, people have wondered why Ted was telling this long story to his children about how he met his mother. Well, it looks like the reason may be because she died.

The shows creators have never deviated, in it’s long history, about how this show would end. It’s not like Friends, who filmed multiple endings to the show, or for goodness sake St. Elsewhere (who could forget that crazy ending?) The creators and writers knew all along how this story was going to end they say, and the show has been filled with innuendo to this end. Such as in an episode in Season 8, Ted runs to his future wife’s apartment and makes a speech about how they will be together in 45 days… He says ““Exactly 45 days from now, you and I are going to meet. We’re going to fall in love and we’re going to get married, and we’re going to have two kids. We’re going to love them and each other so much. All that is 45 days away, but I’m here now, I guess because I want those extra 45 days with you. I want each one of them … I am always going to love you. Until the end of my days and beyond.”

Now of course this could be just an expression of his undying love for her, but it appears that he just wants more time with her than he will get.

The mother wasn’t cast until recently, however they also never refer to her, show her, in future seasons. Yes, this could be because she was not cast yet, but there are things unspoken that says a lot more. Like in one scene, flashing forward many years, Ted supposedly high on a sandwich says “Where’s my wife?” His friends standing around say nothing.

Fast forward to last night’s episode. If you haven’t seen it yet, prepare for spoilers. In this flash forward episode, Ted and his wife return to the Inn where Barney and Robin get married to spend time which one another away from the kids. In this episode, Ted tells the stories about Barney and Robins wedding, ending with Robin’s mother showing up for the event (which Robin thought she wouldn’t.) Ted’s wife then asks “How is that a surprise? What mother wouldn’t show up for their daughter’s wedding?” This is when Ted begins to cry. She says “Oh hey… ” and distracts him from the topic with another story. The episode ends with Bob Dylan’s song “If You See Her, Say Hello.”

Now of course this is all speculation. If this is so, it is sure to be a very emotional ending to a great run. We could of course spin it positively, that she WILL show up to her daughter’s wedding, but after last night, I’m not real optimistic of that. Maybe she does have a serious illness, but beats it? Maybe the reason he starts the story is because she is in and out of the hospital at those times? Who knows, maybe there is a happy ending.

Personally though, as sad as it is, as depressing as it is, it may just be the perfect end to the perfect story. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.

The Return of Jimmy Kimmel Sucks!

The cast of “Monuments Men” is coming to chat with Jimmy Kimmel tonight, including his arch nemesis Matt Damon. It’s sure to be a good time!

If you remember, back in January, 2013, Damon took over Kimmel’s ABC late-night show, temporarily renamed Jimmy Kimmel Sucks!, which was chock full of big stars including Andy Garcia, Sheryl Crow, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams, Nicole Kidman, Gary Oldman, Amy Adams, Reese Witherspoon and Demi Moore. For the whole hour, Kimmel was gagged and tied to a chair.

Damon, making his return tonight with his Monuments Men cast, causes even more tension with the late night host. (Watch the brief preview below.)

According to The Hollywood Reporter: “If that wasn’t enough, Kimmel will do another installment of “Mean Tweets,” this time with a tweet from his own Twitter handle, @jimmykimmel. In the clip, Kimmel bashes Damon, though the Oscar winner has the last laugh (yoga pants!).”

Scheduled to appear tonight with Damon are George Clooney, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Bob Balaban and Cate Blanchett. This episode of Jimmy Kimmel is airing at the same time as Jay Leno’s last show.

Carl Sagan’s Cosmos Hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson

A show I am really looking forward to, Cosmos, hosted by the great Neil deGrasse Tyson Premiers on Sunday, March 9th on FOX. Watch the trailer below and let us know in the comments if you will be watching!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb5tdqplTqQ

According to Fox:

More than three decades after the debut of “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage,” Carl Sagan’s stunning and iconic exploration of the universe as revealed by science, COSMOS: A SPACETIME ODYSSEY sets off on a new voyage for the stars. Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, AMERICAN DAD) and Sagan’s original creative collaborators – writer/executive producer Ann Druyan and astronomer Steven Soter – have teamed to conceive a 13-part docu-series that will serve as a successor to the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning original series.

Hosted by renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, the series will explore how we discovered the laws of nature and found our coordinates in space and time. It will bring to life never-before-told stories of the heroic quest for knowledge and transport viewers to new worlds and across the universe for a vision of the cosmos on the grandest scale. COSMOS: A SPACETIME ODYSSEY will invent new modes of scientific storytelling to reveal the grandeur of the universe and re-invent celebrated elements of the legendary original series, including the Cosmic Calendar and the Ship of the Imagination. The most profound scientific concepts will be presented with stunning clarity, uniting skepticism and wonder, and weaving rigorous science with the emotional and spiritual into a transcendent experience.

Carl Sagan’s original series “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage” was first broadcast in 1980, and has been enjoyed by more than 750 million people worldwide.

NBC Announces Next LIVE Broadway Production: “Peter Pan LIVE!”

On the heels of an extremely successful showing for “The Sound of Music LIVE!” starring Carrie Underwood, Laura Benanti, Christian Borle and Stephen Moyer, the execs over at NBC announced Sunday at the Television Critics Association tour that they have plans for another holiday special production.

300px-PeterPan-SandyDuncanTaking flight on December 4, 2014, NBC presents “Peter Pan LIVE!” a new TV version of the James M. Barrie’s revered musical. NBC President Robert Greenblatt stated that producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who produced “The Sound of Music Live!” will again executive produce the production. Per the official release, casting is currently “on a fast track.”

“The Sound of Music Live!” that starred Carrie Underwood averaged a phenomenal 5.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 22 million viewers overall in the live-plus-7 totals from its Dec. 5 telecast.

“We’re very pleased to be underway on ‘Peter Pan’ as our next live holiday musical for the whole family,” said Greenblatt. “We were all delighted to see how ‘The Sound of Music Live!’ struck such a chord in December and brought nearly 19 million people to the live telecast plus another several million viewers over the weekend. In the hopes that lightning strikes twice, we think we’ve landed on another great Broadway musical — which ironically also starred Mary Martin — that is a timeless classic for all audiences, young and old, who just never want to grow up.”

“We’re thrilled to be reteaming with NBC and Bob Greenblatt in bringing ‘Peter Pan’ back to its roots as a live television event,” said Zadan and Meron. “We hope to create the joy that has made this musical so beloved. We would like a whole new generation to experience ‘Peter Pan’ and for families across the country to share the magic.”

Greenblatt did state that Peter Pan will likely be a male, unlike the original Broadway production which starred women in the leading role.

Who would you like to see star in the upcoming production?
