Amy Winehouse, 27 year old Back to Black singer, has been found dead in her UK flat Saturday evening. The cause of death was not immediately clear, however, reports are swirling that Winehouse died of a drug overdose.
Winehouse was seen earlier this week at the iTunes festival with Dionne Bromfield. While she didn’t perform, Amy took the mic to ask the crowd to buy Bromfield’s album.
Amy Winehouse is no stranger to drug related incidents. She entered treatment in late 2007 for drug treatment, including heroine use. She most recently cancelled all upcoming performances. Her spokesperson released a message stating, “Amy Winehouse is withdrawing from all scheduled performances. Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen.”
Winehouse was considered by many to be a talented artist, however, her history with substance abuse seemed to leave a question mark with many of her critics. Our thoughts are with her friends and family.
